Default TrailBlazer SS...

I stopped at the store this morning on the way home from the gym and parked next to a black TBSS. When I came out to the car the guy who owns it just happened to be leaving at the same time. I complimented him on his TB and he did the same.

We pulled out onto 434 and I just followed him through traffic for a while until we reached a clearing. I wasn't sure if he was game, but I got next to him at about 50mph in 2nd and he floored it. I did the same, and like a jack *** I decided to shift into drive after bouncing off the rev limiter about six times (I don't street race much anymore) and proceded to put a few bus lengths on him. He must have thought I was retarded bouncing off the limiter like that, but oh well...I won. He turned off about a 1/2 mile up the road.

He seemed like a pretty cool guy, and for the record I LOVE TBSS's. He probably didn't expect to get beat that bad by a totally stock looking Z28.

Good kill, and also, you are much better off just leaving it in drive. Trying to manually shift an auto only hurts you.

From a roll race you are always better off starting in the optimum gear for that given speed. If I had started in drive I would have had to wait for the car to shift itself into second instead of just starting there in the first place. The problem was I got excited and shifted into drive a couple seconds too late

Agreed.^^ I usually drop it to 2nd and then just put it back in drive because it will shift itself at about 6200RPMs which is perfect for me. Leaves human error out of the equation. I just deal with the sterring and traction issue.

I got to see a TBSS with a few mods and a tune. He had AWD and was eating people alive out of the hole, but after that it was all done. They cut amazing 60's but not too impressed with their 1320's. Unless you remember it does way a ton and isn't very aerodynamic. With that being said, its a bit of a monster. No dig races against the AWD TBSS's.

I tried to get him to race me, but he had already heard and saw my car. I said cmon I run a 12.3 1/4 what do you have to lose. With tires and some practice I'll be in the low-mid 11's guaranteed.

Thank you for not living in NY, I would not want to roll race you.

yep, if you race us from a stoplight to stoplight, a stock f-body could be in trouble The freeway is the worstplace for us TBSS owners to run

I watched plenty of guys get drug by these AWD TBSS's.

The one I saw had a tune and some headers with a K&N filter. I think that was it. Also a fast intake, or was planning on an intake. Hope to see him when I am on the street with my Nitto 555 Dr's. My power with the extra traction of the dr's should eat him up.

What does it take for a Trailblazer SS to keep up with the SRT8 Jeep? I heard they will walk a Trailblazer

You and me both man...My silverado SS is about as aerodynamic as a brick wall at the back of a wind tunnel...0-60mph is my game, anything over 60mph out on the freeway, I'm dead. I hope to change that a little bit with a smaller pulley on my blower and an upgraded intercooler and adjusted timing. Hopefully I will have a blower cam installed in the next 3-4 months and that will help top end alot.

Good run on the TBSS. I ran a debaged CTS-V on the freeway and he put two or three lengths on me from 65-105mph...would have been a different story had I caught him at a light.

Well the biggest advantage they have is better gearing and alot less TM. Stock 60's in a TBSS are around 2.1-2.2. The Jeep can pull 1.8's. With a tune/intake and TC they are pretty much even, for about $8k less

good kill, and almost 122mph is a crazy high trap speed for only 400hp

Thanks, I switched from a VIG3800 to the TCI4400 and picked up 2mph through the traps!! I haven't had the car on the dyno since the VIG, I think the TCI may have freed up some rwhp.

BTW, my car weighs 3550lbs with me in it.

one note. the RWD TBSS cut the same 60fts as the AWD version and run about a tenth quicker in the 1/4. they transfer weight to the rear wheels pretty good.
