One thing I haven't seen mention is heat......

 

i saw a GTO with exhuast running mid 14's to 15's at the track the other day...

simple answer is that some poeple just don't know how to drive...

My last car was a 2001 CL Type S. Really a nice car but the FWD layout annoyed me too much on the road course. I was quite modified w/ a Comptech S/C running 5.5 psi. Dyno'd 280fwhp/243fwtq. Ran 13.4 @ 105 w/ a 2.1 60' on 19" heavy *** wheels. Not bad for a 3600 lb FWD car...
