Default Played around with a Turbo RX7 running 13lbs, in my 00 WS6

I was out cruising tonight in my 00 WS6 with just exhaust and lid, when a mazda RX7 pulled up next to me. I threw him a rev for the hell of it and he exchanged. I chased him around for a while until we got to the outskirts of town. We finally hit a light and we both jumped on it. I ripped him off the line and i stopped at about 70mph, by then I had about 2 lengths on him. His car was insanely loud and annoying, but I was surprised how quick it was. We ran one more time from a 30mph roll to about 70mph. I started in 3rd and should have been in 2nd, but anyways we both took off and he pulled right away just a lil, when the rpms finally got up ther i started realing him in, but slowly. I let off before i caught him. So we both pulled over and i asked him what he had done. He had a fully built engine running on 13lbs pounds of boost. He said the only reason I was keeping up was because he was getting no traction, which is probably true. I am guessing if he would have had traction, he may have pulled pretty hard on me. I offered to go run him on a country road, but he said he wasn't much into racing, even though we both had a couple good pulls chasing each other.

If its an FD, and pushing 13lbs its probably either Singled or running Aftermarket twins, eitherway probably making around 340-350whp, and im an fbody guy i drive one, but and FD pushing 13lbs is no joke even to a cammed ls1...so idk if its an FC then maybe...idk Good Kill i guess

My guess would be an FC. An FD with 13 lbs (like you stated, aftermarket single or twins) would easily pulled him, if the FD was making 350 or so. Those cars weight nothing, and with that much power, it's easy to see who the winner would be.

nice kill, but 30-70???lol

i think the guy was lying about his mods, or can't drive worth a ****, because my friend has a fully built FD with a t-78 turbo, and at 12psi he was pushing 430. i ran him with my C6 Z06 and put 3 cars on him from 50-140, then he upped the boost to where he was pushing 450, but i still ended up beating him by 2 cars

RX-7 weight:2769
C6 Z06 weight:3120

He said he wasn't giving it full throttle, because it was a new motor and he was still trying to break it in. He also said it wasn't tuned yet and as it sat it was making about 320 to the wheels. He said after the tune he is looking somewhere between 360-400 rwhp.

fun cars. i've owned 2 FD's one that i went single turbo, one that i modded the twins....they make power very easy with just exhaust work.... stock the run a 10-8-10 seq. boost pattern. if you find one running strong, they are no joke. i can't tell you how much weight i pulled off that car when i went single turbo but it was a lot. everything is cast iron or metal.

13PSI from say a 50 trim is very very different from 13PSI on a T78.

I doubt the traction exucse too. I dont see an FC or FD having traction issues on a 30 punch at 13PSI. If its a small turbo setup its not enough power to really break them loose and if its a big turbo he would have caught a bit, then gone up in smoke. 35Rs do that on a lot of setups as they hit their stride. Its awesome actually. But if he is getting ahead on the jump, I dont think thats his problem.

Good kill.
With small displacement motors, big boost does not always mean big power. It will if done right, but thats not a given.
