Mustang owners like Ken, posting in an fbody forum on how fast mustangs are, is like a little guy taking a swing at a bigger guy just to prove he's tough. The percentage of fbodys that can beat any type of mustang is extremely high.

I think Terminator when I hear 03-04 and I think they are simply stunning cars, I would own one in a second. But if the factory called em Cobra's (earlier models), can we as enthusiasts.. do any less ?

So let me get this straight. IF I were to be SCed, forged and tweaked, are you saying that your mustang would whoop up on me? No doubt that you have to be a complete moron to NOT think that an 03-04 cobra isnt quick. But heres the deal, why doust ford only make them quick AFTER the demise of the F body? Its like waiting for the biggest kid to graduate and becoming the bully. And besides, once we start getting into mods... Well then the fight becomes a completely different animal..
My ONLY issue with mustangs is that MOST of them on the road are V-6s, and driven by high school girls. Hard to think of a car as a pony car with a teenie in prada behind the wheel. Granted, there are V-6 camaros and firebirds too, but NOBODY likes those.

Nobody bought them, thats why they stopped making F-bods, bitch to GM. There may be more rental Mustangs out there than the entire population of LSX F-bods. Thats how companies make money.

As for how companies make money? Thats how a company pushes cars. GMs almost 900Mil in profets for the 2nd quarter this year to fords 750Mil says that GM knows how to Make MONEY. Maybe Ford spent some of thier profits trying to earn back that Number 1 selling domestic spot GM took in 05?

In the OP's defense, he's just saying that when us Terminator owners hear the word "Cobra", we think of our cars. Even most of the Mach and 2V guys do this also. That's why I said "I really hate to say it"... That's because it's true. It's NOT AT ALL to say our cars are better than any other Mustang. It's just saying when we hear "Cobra", us, and most other Mustang enthusiast think of the Terminator.
Kind of like when I hear "LS1", the first thing I think of is a Camaro. Not a Trans Am, or a Vette. It's what I'm most familiar with. It's not saying anything less of the other cars.

Bottom line: both cars are fast, but they shouldn't be compared.
The 2002 Z28 coupe MSRP was $22,700. You can compare that with the 2002 Mustang GT which was $22,965. They are competitors.
The 2003 Mustang Cobra coupe MSRP was $33,750 which means they were more than $11,000 more expensive than the Camaro Z28. They are not competitors.
You can't compare those cars any better than you can compare a Z28 to a base Mustang. In fact theres actually a smaller price gap between the base mustang and the Z28.

Stock for stock 03/04 cobra vs ls1 f-body is a drivers race. Modded, depends on mods & driver.
But, heat soak a cobra (run it) and they drop a **** load of rwhp (30-40+). LS1 runs the same rwhp hot or cold.

Theres more bs in both those sales figures than you will ever know. I see Fords 5/1 compared to Chev's everyday, I inspect roadway construction. Every company we deal with consults Ford products. We have 85 Fords for a small branch. F150's, 250's, 350's, 450's and oh yea even 650 water hualers all day and now the cops have Crown Vic's and Chargers.
