have you raced one? I have raced many machs with 300-315 and we are very good races. I usually win but......add 100hp....yeah I think it will be about 10 cars. my brother has 432 in his mach and well he was 8 cars out and pulling when he shut down. granted that n2o compared to motor. and from 40 rolls.

from a dig a mach wouldn't need 350 to put 10 cars on me.

Yea thats my only issue witht he story. We all know a bolt on and cammed ls1 can hit 400 rwhp. However cant he same be said about a mach? I have seen a couple cammed and bolt-on Machs hit 350 rwhp , so I guess 400 rwhp NA would be attainable but are there heads out there that are that far superior over the stock ones that would gain an additional 50 rwhp or so? 10-12 cars is a TON though and I cant see that happened with 100 rwhp difference between the two cars.

yeah I agree 10 is a lot, but your talking about getting beat that bad who is counting car lengths? also.....my opinion is based on the mach having gears and the ls1 not. b.c I haven't seen any ls1s around here with gears. and I would agree it would talk some motor work to get to 400 na.

a full bolt on ls1 isnt going to dyno 315 horse and and a built motor (432) isnt a bolt on, a full bolt on could range in the 340's-350's from what ive seen, and a 350 horse ls1 and a 400 horse mach, hes not getting 10 cars, and full bolt ons would mean the ls1 would be geared

00silvergtp said that 400 horse mach's will kill a full bolt on ls1 by 10 lengths, so i was letting him know it isnt happening, they would win but not by 10 lengths

i dunno..ive seen a full bolt on m6 ls1 beat a 03 cobra with exhaust and bfgs...id say the cobra must be quite abit faster then the mach.

ive never been really impressed with machs..they always say its a drivers race..ever since i got my car i havnt lost to one.. maybe they all suck @ driving i guess. my car was bone stock to the paper filter wen i got it btw...

Well first of all Machs weigh less than Cobras, and have a solid axle out back. I can't comment on the race you saw, because I wasn't there. If a Mach had 400rwhp, it would be faster than an '03 Cobra with exhaust and BFGs.

You sure? That Cobra may be around 430 HP or so with a ton of torque to move its portly ***.

A Cobra with just catback will be around 385rwhp. So less power, more weight, and IRS...

the first race is with a mach1 that put down 301 no gears. I won by 2 cars. the camera car is a ss that put down 352 (full bolt on). the last race......now pay attention. I am racing the ss and if you look on the other side of me you will briefly see a mach way a head of us. 423rwhp and he gave us the hit. you count the cars....................

you are the type of person that gives ls1tech a bad name. your car is not almighty..............

sorry I hijacked your thread.....just drives me nuts when respect isn't given where its due......

There's no reason a 400 rwhp Mach 1 shouldn't put about 10 cars on a stockish LT1 up to 120mph, depending on where they started and the drivers. If he was honest about the power, he probably didn't spray.

A respectable death. Time for mods.

1.I've heard some of those dyno around 390-410 hp stock.
2.The sick torque helps with the weight issue.
3.That IRS can hook pretty good on the street. Remember the pic of that black Cobra pullin' the front wheels in MM&FF? (I think it was in that "street racing" issue.)

385-390 is the highest I've EVER seen for a stock dyno. Most are in the 370-380rwhp range And IRS *can* hook well, but live axle is still better.

Yes I've raced one and I've seen a intake/full exhaust LS1 at 340whp pull on a procharged mach 1 with 405whp multiple times. both of them are my friends and i can video if you want

And no way I'm saying that the Mach won't pull the LT1, but not by 10-12 cars esp from a roll

Anyways, I pull up beside him (his girl is also in the car) and he rolls down his window. I count down from 3. Then he leaves me sitting, bad. I got up to about 120ish and he was apx. 10-12 cars ahead of me when he shut down. I drive by and give him the thumbs up. Since I had skipped my exit to race him, I take the next one off. He had gotten off as well so we talk for a min at a light. Turns out last time he had dyno'd it it was making 350rwhp, and he said it was probably over 400 now. He also had a 75 shot he didn't even use. Poor me.

Better luck next time lt1.
Don't feel bad. I raced one from a roll about a year ago, and I only got about a car length on him by 120, and I have mods. Those Mach's are quite quick with the right driver, and even more so with mods. I've seen them do mid 12's at the track all day long. At least you didn't let a riced out Honda beat you.
