it didnt take the ss package to not have a govenor. but you did have to a model that z rated tires on it to not have the govenor. the base z28s with the 273 rear ends i believe had the govenor. the performance package with the 323 rear did not.

Did you have your tranny worked over? B/C A4 cars are limited to 130mph. I had an A4 02 Z and tried my damnest to go more and it was stock either.
