Default a few races this week

I’ve been working night shift this week so when I get off work at 10:30 PM its prime time for street racing. Tucson is a decent size city to there is some sort of car rally every night and they all run until 10:30.

The run I had on Sunday was against a pullied ’03 Cobra. We were on the freeway and ran from 40 to about 120 MPH. I jumped out a car length before I hit 3rd gear and I held the lead until we shut down. My friends and I always stop at the pub on the way home from work and have a beer and he followed us in. He was a pretty cool dude…we BSed, bought each other a drink and he went on his way.

Monday was a 2006 Z06 that my boss owns. Obviously I didn’t win but it’s always fun to try. He have me a 5 car running start and I only managed about 4 car lengths before he caught and passed me again. They are insanely fast even in stock trim. I really hope to get one in a few years.

Last night I got a big surprise from a little **** box Honda. You know the one I’m talking about….primer grey, no hood, crappy body work, with an annoying fart can. We had 2 runs, the 1st from a dig.I Jumped out about ½ of a car on him on the launch and maybe pulled another car by the time we shut down at 130 MPH. I had huge traction problems that run so I asked if he wanted to try a 2nd gear roll. I still had to feather the gas but I didn’t smoke the tires near as bad this time. We ran up to about 115 MPH that time and I got him by maybe 3 cars. I was surprised as hell with the little shitbox….normally I won’t even risk a speeding ticket to race something that looked like this. He said he had an engine swap, turbo, and a 175 shot and ran high 12s.

How do the new C6's hold up against the 405 HP Z06's? My friend has a C6 and his dad has a C5 Z06, and I always wondered who would win. I raced a C6 at the track and smoked him but I don't think that guy could drive like my friend can.

I'm pretty sure they did a test for that on corvette forum a while ago, i think it was a drivers race.

Nice kills (and death)! Damn, I wish there was consistent street racing that went on around here, although if there was, I'm sure the police activity would break it up. Reading a story like this, I can't wait to get home and go tearing around tonight (abiding by all speed limits and traffic laws, of course ).

Oh yeah, and I would imagine the C5 Z06 against the C6 result would have a lot to do with the options and type of C6 (auto, etc). But an M6 to M6 should be a kick *** race with the driver mod being the deciding factor. I've heard of C5 Z06s trapping as high as 117 with an awesome driver and a strong running car and C6s trapping as high as 116, so that's a very close race.

stock vs stock the C5Z is the faster car. With full exhaust, cai, and a tune a C6 should pull on the Z.

nice kills...gotta love the new Z06's. We've got a couple turboed civics in NC running 10's and 11's. Not bad for street cars...but give me V8 muscle anyday

Ya...I actually belong to that club but I dont get to many of the meets. A lot of the guys I work with go out with them on Saturday nights though.

A guy I work with has a pretty sick Terminator...his name is Bobby Jenkins. He was out with those guys almost every weekend before he got out of the military and moved back home. It was always him and Tony (Z O Sick) causing trouble. haha

Yeah, I guess Tony got rid of the vette. The guy that's really doing something is Steve with the supra motor powered MG. My camaro's been down for a year now, so I haven't come out. The neon can beat at least half the cars in the club, but it's nothing to show off with. I see the guys at the track and stuff. You run the time in your sig at SIR?

Ya, I need to go up to Phoenix to get some good times though...the car is capable of way more. I cant get any traction at SIR. I cant go above 4500 rpms in 1st or 2nd gear or I smoke my tires. (stock run flats)
