Default H/C Stroked Fox Body

Well on my way home from the Wawa on Rt.37 in Toms River (local hang out) I come up on an fox body stang thats so I cruise with him for a bit, two kids in the car, I have my friend in mine....I hear him down shift and rock the car a bit....so I put the car in third, he immediately gets on it. I floor it, pulling pretty hard....I click fourth and put about a 1-1/2 cars on him....we catch the next light and I ask him what he has done. He tells me it's a stroked 5.0, I forget what size he said, and he's got heads and cam. So we got when the light turns, I baby it in first, ignorantly power shifted second, wheel hopped horribly, at this point he's right next to me. I miss 3rd, he gets a car on me, get it into third and catch up, click fourth and put a car on him. We catch yet another light. Well I did better this time. I babied first, neck and neck, power shifted second, wheel hoped and he took a fender, shifted third put a car, power shifted fourth, another car, by the time I was half way through fifth I had atleast 6 cars on him. Well we took the u-turn to head back towards the parkway and took another few runs....I one run I some how managed to miss third and fourth (need a trans mount really badly) and still was ahead of him by a 1/2 car. Does this sound right for the amount of work he has done? My mods are in my sig, and we were both on street tires.....

It all depends on setup... if it's a mild h/c 331 or something, then it's not gonna be THAT fast. Did it sound like his cam was loping pretty hard?

Thumbs up nice kill !

Sounded more like a bolt on 302. Nice kill though,h/c stroker should be in the mid 11's.

Good kill. It it was stroked, i'm guessing mild 331. Sounds more like a 302 bored 30 over with H/C/I. A really good 331 set up should have given you more than you wanted, but eh...who knows.

When i bought my 85Gt it had a 306 with performer heads and RPM Air Gap intake with a pretty stout cam...ran mid 13s with a stalled C4.

Yeah, but there's all sorts of h/c combos for the 302... some make 250rwhp, some make 350rwhp.

Yea. I understand. That motor came out the next weekend and in went the current set-up. To give credit, the 306 was set up to run spray, but even then it was a 12 sec car at best. The old 306 in sitting on an engine stand in my garage.

I was out last night...and I was talking to a friend of his...he told me it was a 331....I don't know that much about mustangs, so I am gunna say it's stroked and he told me that car did have a set of heads and a cam.....

If it's a 331, it's stroked. Apparently not a good combo though, or the driver isn't good. Or maybe he simply knew traction was too limited and didn't go at it hard. It couldbe that the setup was built for a power adder he doesn't have. There are just hundreds of possibilities. Many yrs ago I had a 308 Mustang with H/C/I, gears, etc. It ran mid 12's without slicks. It's all in the combo and learning how to drive it.

You were clearly running quicker though, and it seems he didn't want to make excuses about his beating.

If it makes you feel better, my H/C/I 306 85GT time came at Thunder Valley on a muggy night. The car may have gone high 12's at sea level in cooler conditions. Maybe.
