ls1 a4 racing tech question?
But, now knowing you dont have a nice verter on, I would do that before anything else. That should be one of the 1st things you do for us A4 guys. It really wakes up the car.

As far as a verter and having it installed, it depends on where you take it. I bought my fuddle N20 verter for a nice price and put it in myslef in a day.
Serious though, get the verter and you will kick yourself in the *** for not doing it sooner.

Converters let the transmission rev up to a certain rpm to keep your car in the right power band. If you have a 3600 stall converter and floor it no matter what rpm you are at it will instantly go to 3600 and pull from that rpm up.
I had a 4500 in my car so even at a stop light at 0 mph you gas it would rev to 4500.
But if you cruise you can still drive at a lower rpm, I could drive mine around at 2000 rpm.
As far as what converter you want to go with on a stock motor it's hard to say what you care more about mpg, performance racing, there is always a trade off. If you want the car to be faster I would think something in the 3000 or so area will give you a good gain in performance. Going less than that is fine too but once you upgrade and go with a bigger cam or start making power in the higher rpm range something 2500 wouldn't be as good as a 3400 or 3600 converter.
Just decide what you want to do with the car and go from there.
Yea, a higher stalled verter will help kill the dead spots you get with it now.. It will keep you in your powerband.
Ill check back later, I am going to go play in the snow.
Since this is a "Drag Tech" Section and we don't race from a roll at a drag strip.. I'll move this to street racing section
