pushrod vs ohc. 351W is pushrod. you'd actually be surprised how similar the 351w and ls1 are. the ls1 is pretty much what ford would have made if they'd stuck w/ pushrods. but im not going to get into that right now

^^^^ what he said. 351W-based stroker is no where near as physically large as a 5.4. The K-member makes it pretty easy. I have a 418 in my 85GT.

460 ends up being about the size of the DOHC modular motors.

interesting pic, 302 next to a 4.6 DOHC

You could stick a Ford small block in there and have room to get IN the engine bay and work on it.

That's what I was thinking about. What would be the biggest size that you think would fit with plenty of room to work with and good power outputs?

what body is this going in? 351 w/ your choice of stroker kit would work well.

I think it would be a cool sleeper if it had a 302 in there with twin turbos...could mess with people on the street.

Sorry bout the bumper dude.

As far as finding the limits of your 4.0........throw some spray into the equation. Ford actually stuffs forged internals into those V6's..........bastards [jealousy]. Start with, say, a 50 shot.....then work your way up. Just be ready to start spending money on tires once you do this.

for the mustangs defense, i saw a turbo 2.3 (4 cyl) stroked out to 2.8 running 8.9 in the quarter and doing wheel stands. it was like a mid 80's model LX and it was in hotrod mag.

I've thought about that, but blower+nitrous+4.10's=less traction than there is now. I guess I will eventually step down to 3.73's or even 3.55's and throw a 100 or 125 shot on. BTW, before the blower I had a 50 shot hooked up but just took everything off and said f--- it when I put on the s/c.

Who said because I own a Mustang that I cannot be a car enthusiast? I have worked on several LS1s and driven many more. Haven't owned one yet.
