Well, i'm not usualy the one posting kill stories, but I have been wanting to measure up to a GT500 for a long time now. After all this is the best FORD can offer in our league.
Here goes;
Cruising on the Hwy (3 lane), about 80mph or so in the fast lane.
I come across a white GT500 with blue stripes. First I thought it was just another stang from afar. As I approached I got more and more excited; could I be so lucky? Is this really a Shelby? you betcha !!!
By that time he saw me too, he proceeded to move to my lane, I understood the chalenge and moved alongside him in the middle. Still around 80mph.
We slow down a little and he gives me the go sign. we both mashed it almost instantaneously. I went from OD to 3rd smack in the middle of my powerband at peak trq.
We went almost head to head untill I shifted into 4th. Then I started pulling away. i couldn't really believe it, after all this was NA VS 500fwhp FI
I kept creeping away untill about 6K rpm at around 145 mph, I was running out of gear (3.73), but i had a good 2 car length on him.
I backed down.
He wanted another go, but traffic got thicker, I denied.
I didn't really thing I would pull one from a roll, this was tittylating![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
BTW my camaro is 370 cid, 12:1 SCR, 5.3L ported heads, MAC mids, Custom exhaust, Cam: 224/222 .612/.576 117+0 LSA, VIG 3800 stall, stock 10 bold built W/3.73, 4L60E Level 5 by FLT etc.....
Perhaps next year, FORD will throw something new on the road, so much for the Shelby mystique.

The best FORD can do in your league? Ummm I didn't know they made a 2007 Camaro and I don't remember F-bodies exactly taking the fight to the 03-04 Cobra. Perhaps Chevy will finally put the long past due Camaro back on the road? Anywho... great kill on the stock car in your heavly modded camaro!

good kill on the shelby. they look good for a stang, but that doesnt mean i wouldnt like to embarass some guy in a 60k mustang (thats including dealer mark up, so dont jump down my throat).
as for Fbodies not taking the fight to 03-04 cobras, my friends brother denied entering our local fbody club we made, and ended up buying a modded 03 cobra.
lets just say every single one of us in the fbody club has beaten his ***, from dig and roll. anything from 79 formula firebird and 80 trans am up to my 95Z.
if your just talking stock against stock, you have some point, i guess, but that doesnt mean it needed to be stated.
i dont hate mustangs, i just prefer real cars

Good kill but seriously, when you start modding, anything goes. I've seen a video of a Toyota Cressida (sp?) with a supra motor run 10.1 at 14x mph...
Of course you can beat many stock cars, but what if the guy had many modslike you do? I'm not taking sides here, it's just that you shouldn't say that those cars are crap because you beat a stock one with a heavily modded camaro.
Stock 1st gen talons put down 190 hp I think, but when you start modding the crap out of it like I did, it's a ******* beast. When i beat other stock cars, I don't say that they are crap because if I was stock, they would have rape me, lol.
With your logic, I could say that LS1 cars are crap because I litterally raped a stock one.
Bottom line is don't judge a car by its stock trim.

Yeah, good run... just don't take it too far. You have A LOT of work done. You're bound to beat lots of stock cars, and that doesn't say anything about their performance.

it's called aftermarket for a reason, which is why there are still f-bodies making kills like this. an LS1 Camaro can be bought for $10k or less a GT500 goes for about $50k i think its ok that Camaro had some aftermarket work. and a fair comparison of stock vs. stock would pit a C6 LS2 vs. a GT500 because they are similiarly priced. i'm pretty sure the vette wins that battle. i'm not trying to bash ford because 03-04 cobras can be very dangerous. but downplaying the race because the GT500 was stock and Camaro was not is ridiculous. anyways nice kill.

the gt500 is a fine car, but is it really a drivers car? a ton of people buy them so when old man shelby kicks it, they can make some money off the last collectible he put out.
they kept the live rear axle thats in the mustang GT. now if your paying 47k (sticker, more like 60 after dealer rape) i would want the proper set up for my car. the GT500 is 3920lbs and the weight distribution is 57/43. not my idea of a car worth that much money, no matter the maker
