Default 2000 ws6 stock vs. 64 nova ss 327 built

i have a 2000 ws6 6 speed mostly stock (k&n air filter and an open exhaust from stock cats back). this guy tried me in his 64 nova ss 327 built. he stayed with me up untill i hit 3rd gear and then i started to pull away. i talked to him later on in town and he claimed the 327 was turning 468rwhp on the dyno and almost 500 at the fly. he had 4:11 gears in a gm 12 bolt, im guessing a 3 speed manual, and alot of goodies under the hood. i just find it hard to believe that a mostly stock ws6 would beat a 468 rwhp car even if he is heavier. any take on this?

Yeah. He is full of ****.

I want a high-windng 327 bad, but in a basic street trim setup without nitrous of FI it wont be putting down any 468WHP unless the guy has really puled out all the stops and has a trannt and valve train to handle a really high redline. If he had that, you would not have left him in 3rd.

the old 327s wont make anywhere near that kind of power unless he has a big cam aftermarket heads and some compression. i've owned three over the yrs. the good thing about the chevy II is, it doesnt take alot of power to make them run. their around 2900 lbs. i had a 67 that weighed 2785 lbs. with aluminum heads. i had a 66 with a 327 that weighed 2900 with factory heads and full interior. the 62-65s are about 100 lbs. lighter. he probably has about 275-300 hp. that would put him in the 13s easily with 4.10s in a light car.
