Where are these tracks you spek of? EVO beating a Z06? Cold day in hell. Evo is a great car, and performs stock better then the other turbo AWD cars, they are very limited and trap low though. This is my opinion and is very well proven. The EVO's I've seen at the track have run 12.9, 13.9, 14.4, 14.7. I am in Colorado, the one 12.9 EVO is highly modded and murdered a Z06 driven by a 17 year old with 20 inch rims.

My conclusion is the EVO is a car to look out for, but compared to a 02 F-Body the newest EVO will not win. The new Cobra's are out of question, but the EVO makes a very well made car, and well rounded.

I went back to the track a second time and pulled a 14.3 out of the bag on my 99 LS1 SS 6-speed. To compare runs.

huh?

There are lots of evo's running mid 13's in stock form.

I ran 12.8@105 with minimal mods and a leaking blow off valve.

in fact just yesterday i was racing a ls1 WS6 and i reeled him in pretty easy. It was a 6MT BTW.

BTW why all the hatred?

AHH..we can't kill it.

12.8 without buying a new clutch!? My friend's got an evo and the stock clutch was GARBAGE. It will definatly die if you do that again. Ever. He spent 2000 dollars for a ceremic disk clutch so he can launch it again. If launched correctly, you can of course hit those low 13's/high 12's, but your clutch will fry (as an evo owner, I am taking you know this). If you trap at 105, I am calling BS on reeling in an M6 WS6 (from a roll I am taking it..and easily especially is BS). That is not happening correctly driven. Anything can happen on the street, so you may have done it, but don't expect it again if you only trap at 105.

well ive had over 15 dragstrip launches, meaning varying from 1.8 60 foot to 1.6 60 foot and the clutch is fine. Also, i trapped 105 with a leaky Blow off valve and thats fixed, also ive added a catback exhaust. Im probably trapping high 107s now.

If you trap at 107/108, I could see you pulling on a stock M6 WS6, so that explains that. IDK, my friend said that he read that evo clutches die after about 7 launches, and he did launch it with in the car once, and BOY did it smell. Of course it is never *good* for anything if you drop the clutch at 4000 rpm, but if what he says is true, consider yourself lucky

well if you're dropping the clutch then thats the problem.

I slip the clutch ever so slightly at 5500 rpm. It does stink sometimes, but i replaced the clutch line with a stainless line, and took the restrictor out of the slave cylinder. That should keep the clutch alive longer.
