Default First race!! wooo

HELLLLLLLLLLO. I drive a 02 T/a (auto)pretty much stock with SLP LID, and Magnaflow catback. I was cruisin and saw a 90 ish Mustang, I pulled up next to him doing about 60 . Anyways we caught a redlight an he asks if I'd do a 20 roll once on the highway, I agreed. Once at 20 I put the car in 1st. As soon as I did he started to honk...beeeeeep...beeeeep. beeep an were off, I was even with him untill around 85 then he slowly started pulling ( i had the t tops down mind you), we raced to 120 an by the end of the race he had 2-3 cars on me. He said it was a 5.0 w/ Heads,Cam,3 73s, and it looked to only have two seats in the car. Does this sound right ? Or should he have beaten me by more? I think it was a good first race, what do you guys think?

Sounds like a mild h/c/i setup, in which case the results are about right. Good run

Sounds about right! Probably a stock piston H/C/I 5.0

Don't worry, it wont take much from your car to put him in the rearview mirror.

those damn 5.0 cars are hell for not just LS1's but anybody out there! losing to one with those mods is a respectable loss! the T-tops on would have helped maybe a 1/2 car maybe?

Why does it need to be "no a/c and somewhat gutted?" A 300-320rwhp foxbody with 3.73s should have no trouble dispatching a stock automatic LS1.

Sounds like a fun first race. You hung pretty well down low for how light he is, but it doesn't take much power in those things to get em movin out because of the major weight advantage; plus you said he had the rear seats out, so he may have had even more weight reduction that you couldn't see.

I would think with the full exhaust (LTs, ORY or hi-flow cats), you'll hang much better to the end, but if you have the 2.73s, those are what's killing you. Even going from 2.73s to 3.42s without the full exhaust would probably put you close to him or next to him. Those 2.73s are HORRIBLE for any race, dig or roll. Do the exhaust and gears and you'll take him. (hope he doesn't have a bottle hooked up )

If it's a true WS6 you have 3.23 on an auto.
