my TA vs. cobalt SS
So, had a ****TY day at work yesterday and the only thing gettin me through the day was the fact that when i left i would be banging gears in my favorite car. Cruisin down the interstate i run up on a red cobalt ss with a cat back, a pillar gauges, and paper tags. Ive never ran one of these or really seen one in action so i figured why not especially since i havent had a race in a while. I get beside the guy and he just takes off so i dropped to 4th at about 65 and pull hard until i shut down around 90. He does a flyby. Then every time i would get close to him to try and line up again he would just take off. We wound up getting off at the same exit and i talked to im at a gas station, wound up bein a real nice guy. Said it was a stage 1. Before we left i asked him for a clean run, he agreed. We went from 60, i went to 100 and shut down, it was bad.

Good kill. They make in the 240-245whp range as a Stage 2, give or take of course, so he was making less than that. But they only weigh like 2800-2900 pounds, so they move out.
I raced one about a year ago when I was making similar power to you and got a priceless reaction. Here's the thread :

nice kill, your car sounds sweet man.
That cobalt with stage one is running close to 225~230 whp
stage 1 consist of 42.5# injectors, a retune to include a 7k redline and about 15 other changes mostly pe,ve, timing.

Its sad when you have to watch out for little econo boxes too. I ran a honda a couple of months ago and if he could of hooked he probably would of put up a fight if not smoked my ***. It was silly at 40 where we started he bounced off the rev limiter in every gear cause he was getting no traction. I got him but holy sheet that thing sounded wicked as **** for a little four banger. More mods are needed for me I guess. Rumor is he makes 650 to the tire. I don't know but jebus from what I saw it could be true.

Whats up brad? Havent seen any of you guys in a while. I havent really decided to keep it but havent been tryin to sell it either. Thought i would sell it when i got the vette but im sellin the vette instead. Ide like to run you sometime as well, should be close but i think you would pull, we will see though.

Yeah, he probably had mods if he smashed you that bad, but not necessarily too much considering the Stage 2s put down as much power as you stock, plus they weigh a good 600+ pounds less. It doesn't take much in a small car from a roll.

my car sucks froma roll to i roast them till 75 from a 30, 40, 50, or anything in second.
They can be a little more fun when you mod a little more. Im around 300 at the wheels and that is the limit of the m62. But eaton has a tvs series and a blower that is a direct replacement the 1320, so in the near future hopefully more.

I hear you on how rolls suck with 300whp and fwd. I have the same problems as you do which is why I ask why add more power with a 1.3L tvs blower. You'll just be adding 3rd gear to your traction trouble list. I personally am done with trying to go fast with this car and will be going back to stock and trading it in soon. Rwd really is the best way to go.
