Barely lost to a 94-98 GT? (99 Tahoe)
I was running late today and i buzzed past a 94-98 GT maybe I was going 40mph... To my surprise he got on it. From the 40 roll to about 80 he only put about a car and a half on me. I think he was a 96-98 auto trans car. Since I am still running 3.08 gears with 29" tires I am thinking 3.73 gears might really help me put a hurting on Stangs like this in the future, anyone else have similar experiences?
Truck only went 16.3 stock on a 2.3 but the gears kill the truck off the line.
PSJ
99 Tahoe (x-MI highway patrol)
did 128mph in it with a catback

those 4.6s aren't that fast... my friend has a 98, the speed is nothing to brag about, but they are nice cars. You should be able to take em with a few more mods.

I was surprised (as was he) that it was so close.
I'm definitely motivated to do 3.73's now. I'm also barely losing to some ricey VW's so the gears might even it up, that would be hilarious.

I know this is a chevy post, but a friend of mine works in Gilberts, IL and makes turbo upgrade kits for ford diesel trucks. He took me for a ride in his FULL size '94 ish pickup- 4wd, 4 doors, longbed- huge. The truck would destroy all 4 tires off the line and pulled as hard at 90 mph as it did off the line. It made 800 ft. lbs (and 400+ hp). He says one of his favorite things to do is smoke off sportscars with "toy" (gasoline) engines. Imagine the shock to see this thing go boilin' past ya belching thick black diesel smoke!

i think this guy didn't know yall were racing.
My friend has a 98 GT, and I've driven it before- it's slow as dirt. My other buddy can keep up with him very good in his 3800 Firebird. 225 horses is miniscule from an 8 cylinder engine...

hey camaro kid shut up. Also how can it be beat by a tahoe. that's crazy.
Oh, let's not include the '03 Cobra here.
PSJ- Go get 'em! Throw in the gears and you're going to surprise the hell out of some ricers and such.

You are honestly the most ignorant and annoying person I've seen post on an internet forum. Stock Mustangs are weak. Most modded Mustangs are weak. That's the bottom line. Understand it, learn it, deal with it.
Oh, let's not include the '03 Cobra here.

My friend's 14.7 2000 3.8 A4 beat a 94-98 GT vert on the highway three times with me in the 3.8 car...
I'm trying to be real specific on the year of the GT that I raced since the 96-98 cars are total turds, and if it had been a 94-95 car I'm sure he would have put quite a few more cars on me... I went 16.3 in my truck stock and I have mods now and a rebuilt trans and some of those 96-98 GT's run like mid 15's so it's not big of a gap as you would think, plus, I will run probably 90mph in the 1/4 with gears.

Hi, my name is John and I have a problem....
I'm so addicted to drag racing I'm considering doing a gear swap in my Tahoe. :p
You'd better get that Formula going soon or you're going to lose it!

LOL @ Unit... but the used Tahoe has a noisy rearend and I have to go in there anyway...
Car will be done soon.
I'd love to get the truck in the high 14's though.

I think I'm in the mid 15's now. And my truck is much faster from a 40 roll than the times would indicate.
Truck's rearend is whining pretty bad I guess it's not unusual for the 96-99's to go out at 100K it sounds like I have a bad pinion bearing.

The first step in the program is learning how to overcome denial.
...then you say, I'm not in denial!
Anyway, good luck with the 'hoe. I say spray a 75 shot on her and helllllooooo 14's.
