What would happen

What would happen
I'm going to be buying a 2000 Trans Am WS6 with the M6 transmission. I'm just currious what will this car do to new mustang GT. I know it will beat the **** out it, but by how much, and how bad would I lose to an 03 cobra, or would it be fairly close. And what would give the most power for about $600.

Re: What would happen
Most FUN FACTOR: 4.10 rear gears.
New GT (stock) kills will be measured in units of bus lengths when driving the WS6.
Stock LS1 vs. Stock GT: At LEAST 1 bus length (you can even miss a shift in
the process).
Bolts ons vs. " : Up to 2 bus lengths.
Cammed + Bolts ons vs. " (I can speak from experience): A small convoy.
We must enjoy domination until 2005.

I'd say, with the 600 bucks, do a cam. That's what I did when I got my car (even though I've had to wait to save up for the installation costs). Good luck with it!

Re: What would happen
You will stomp a new GT into the ground. I wouldn't waste the gas personally. You'll lose to the '03 Cobra by two car lengths or so given equal driving skills. You don't stand a chance against a '03 Cobra with chip, pulley, & catback. It would be very ugly.
Here's how I'd spend your $600 on a stock '00 M6 WS6:
$129 - TSP lid
$50 - Holley Powershot Filter
$100 - MAF Ends
$300 - Drag Radials
$30 - Cut out
$5 - Fernco Hose
------------------
$614 (tax not included)
Here's my reasoning for those mods:
It's common knowledge that the intake and exhaust (especially intake) is choked off on the LS1. You'll pick up some nice horsepower by removing the restrictions. The cutout will open up the exhaust end of things. There's not a whole lot you can do for $600. I would also do the FRA mod or by a FTRA kit. Don't forget to descreen your MAF.
I hope that helps.

Re: What would happen
I would race my friends cobra, and the only thing it has done is a very nice stereo, and my friend isnt that great of a driver, and he misses shifts all of the time.

What year Cobra? Like I said, if it's an '03 with a chip, pulley, and catback it makes around 450rwhp. You can't touch that without more mods. I don't recall the cam only record. It's pretty quick. An '03 Cobra with those mods will trap around 122mph. Good luck!

Here's an idea. How about you just race them? You can "who would win" it to death but you're never going to know until you race.
FWIW, the '97 Cobras are horribly slow.

I friggin hate that "Could I beat this??, Could I beat that??" Just go race, dammit!!!
BTW If you haven't checked out www.installuniversity.com , it is a must to do so. Then do all the free mods on the site.

Re: What would happen
I have an auto. With stage 2 TEA heads, and cam, every bolt-on including throttle body and free mods. LS1 edit on the way. No blower on my car. I don't need one. Neither does any LS1. with the displacement of 5.7 liters, if you have aftermarket valves and head work with a good cam, you'll be sucking so much air into the cylinders it will almost be like a supercharger (not quite but anyway), but with one mean lope. I Would say I am putting down around 450rwhp, off the bottle. Add that, I'm in the high 500's. Save your money for heads and cam. It's worth it. But if you do this put on a set of headers, a bigger or ported throttle body and an LS6 intake for maximum airflow and mad *** power. You'll kick the shiot out of an '03 Cobra.
