To honda or not to honda?
black_dragon I'm afraid it's not as easy as just "swapping and squeezing" to go 12s in the Honda. Put a 100 shot and squeeze a kit with no engine management you can kiss that block goodbye.
Plus, read the OPs mods, he's going to need more than just cutting a 12 to have any shot at winning.
They are very light though and that can help. They can't run for crap on street tires and for sure not from a dig. If he has slicks and heats them up good well he could get some decent times. 300 engine hp assuming 200 engine hp and 100 shot would go pretty darn good in a light honda.Power to weight is power to weight. But again traction is everything. I raced a turbo/nitrous civic at local track one of my first trips there. I was driving my 96z28 vert near stock. It was running consistant but only 14.3 at our altitude.
I think they thought the vert was a six banger they were talking crap in the staging lanes how they would run an easy 11,yada yada. Guess the kid just bought the car already built. It was a turbo and all that.I looked they had the hood open.
We launched and I wasted them by like twenty car lengths.I ran a 14.3 at 96mph.They ran a 16.5 at like 85mph! Their 60ft was like a 3.0! They spun them completely off and had to back out of it. Next time they came around and they were put beside me again and they asked the track official if they could run someone else.
But at local track also a ghetto civic with stock engine and ebay turbo was running 11.7s pretty consistently. It did blow up think next time at track but it did go fast...FOR AWHILE.. Another light desol with a supercharger also ran run in the 11s and low 12.Never seen a 10 second honda at local track yet. I am sure they exist but takes more than an engine swap and spray to get 10s from them usually. Turbos sure. Turbos can make any car fast as heck.
Your car should be running 11s for sure depending on track alititude .With traction of course. With 100 or so shot you should be doing very low 11s or tapping high 10s.
I would not fear this honda if it isn't turboed. And if he is running big shots on it like over 100 hp well things could easily blow up before he reaches the end of the quarter. Just because you built the engine stronger don't mean the clutch or axles or trans gears will survive very long.
I say check the car out a bit better if possible looking for snails. If no snail spank his ***! Preferably at a track so you get actual timeslips and film it.
I'd come up with more than a 13.0 a 107 to talk **** about Honda's in here.
Im sure you got this one, but i seriously suggest you take a GOOD look at his ride and notice if he gets nervous when you look in a certain area (Bottle hidden), but in all respect, 1k is a LOT of cash to throw up for no reason. watch with this one

I would put maybe a couple hundred on it IF you can check under the hood. All you need to know is if its running a turbo or on the very edge of probability a supercharger. If he is not, run him. If he is then you really dont have clue whats in there and money is a bad idea.
H22s are overrated IMHO. I have yet to se them do anything that B18s and K20s dont do and hey are heavier, more pricey, and basicly a PITA compaired to the more typical Honda engines. But since they have .2L more CI people seem to like them. This guys sounds exactly like the type of poser who buys into what some sales rep told him.
With the juice I'll bet you put many lengths on him. Run from a dig.
Don't fall for it. Call his bitch *** out. Then come back on here and tell me when I'm right

The car is high 11s on slicks at the track, so its not even a race on the street with DR's.
But, of course, he sold the car last week. I think someone said he has a CRX. I might have to just wait a while and spank that instead. By the time he finishes the CRX I should have a 100 shot, better tires, and a new tune. We shall see, we shall see.
