Hey everyone just been reading through here and made me miss my LT1 so i figured i would post up a kill of about 2-3 months ago. My friend drives a TDI Volkswagon Jetta, a 2004 if i recall correct, his mods are CAI, Short Throw, Clutch, Injectors, Injection Pump, Fuel Pump, 45HP Bully Dog Chip, 3" straight pipe duals, and if im not mistaken an aftermarket V17 Turbo/Mani.

Anyway i was driving one night headed into town in my 96 LT1 when a pair of headlights is hauling up on my *** real quick and just flys by me dumping out black smoke and after this i realize its my friend in his jetta. So after he makes a turn i follow suit and he is just dumping black smoke all over, well im in 4th gear(3rd gear was out) riding his *** at about 60 MPH waiting for a car to pass coming from the other way(2 lane roadway). After it does i immediatly punch it and while hes in front of me and notices this, he does to dumping smoke all over my car. At about the top of 4th im almost to his front fender, by 5th i pass him easily, get in front of him, and at well over 100MPH i have a good 2 1/2-3 car lead on him and let off and shift to 6th.

For his mod list i wasn't quite expecting to beat him that easily, especially with him in front of me to start. He also has a shot of propane(wasn't using) and a huge *** system in his trunk. All in all it was fun, i called him after the race and as soon as he answered i said "Silly boy, you know better than to try and pick on a Camaro" He just laughed and i said i thought that was you, you ***. It was good fun.

 

nice kill...I'd love to have one of those diesel Jetta's as a daily driver.

 

Yeah for sure. Its a nice car, comfy as hell, fun to drive and still gets 25-30 mpg in town with those mods, when hes on the throttle. Amazing.

 

i totally agree with both of you guys, i was actually looking at some golf tdi's just because they are a little lighter. but with injectors and a good tune those things can put down around 250hp and 300tq. which isnt too shabby for a 4 cyl diesel. plus on the highway if youre not on the throttle they claim to get around 40 mpg's! and with propane its even better. i mean a turbo 4 cyl diesel is like the best of everything, its a quick *** ride if modded, still gets excellent mileage, and is very dependable.

 

^They are very dependable cars. Until alot of modding goes into them. Just after he put in his new turbo/mani and after a tune his ECU and Injection Pump took a **** on him. He's had his flywheel shatter and just all sorts of problems! But sometimes thats just how it goes!
