I have a friend here right now that states, and i quote "him and his brother in their stock 00 V6 Camaro 5 spd beat a 98 Z28 A4 in a race straight up" He said there was nothing wrong with the Z but that the V6 just straight up beat it. Please post your thoughts towards him on this matter.

 

i had a '00 V6 with 3.42's, intake, exhaust, and a tune and it would hang with the V8's until about 60-65 and then it was game over. but otherwise i throw the BS flag on this one. i wouldn't doubt if this thread gets moved though~Cole~

 

Um nope, not going to happen. I raced my friends 98 v6 just for fun in my 99 trans am, and lets just say it was not pretty and i am bone stock.

 

Fu**ing B.S. I think your friend ate a BIG bowl of squirrel turds for b-fast and started trippin out..there is just no way possible. Tell him to grab a video camera and film it all over again. If he does win I will personally ship my V8 to him free of charge.

 

plz let your friend make an ls1 account and tell us details b/c a guy i used to work with had a 2000 v6 with the aftermarket ws6 hood for camaros made the ram air work, had gears, full exhaust, and a stall and he couldnt even touch my moms 05 trailbalzer 4x4.

 

On my way home last night I was side by side at a stop light next to a full size school bus. I waved at the driver and told him on green...he smoked me by five bus lenghts. True story. Your friends not a school bus driver is he?

 

Maybe the guy in the Z didn't know he was racing? I leave lights briskly sometimes, look over and see some little ricer rowing through the gears- he is probably figuring he is hanging wth me without realizing that I am not really getting on it.....

 

+1. I think that happens a lot.

I had a V6 and I raced an LTI that was obviously running like crap and it was sort of close but like the other poster said above once we hit about 60 it was getting ugly. You could hear the LT1 idling really ruff and could smell the gasoline from it running rich. We got to the next light and he laughed and said he was having some issues with his opti but he just bought the car and was preparing to restore it completely. He complemented me on how nice my car looked and said he thought it was Z when I first pulled up next to him. It was funny though that it could be running that bad and still whip a 210hp car that was running perfectly.

There's no way it ever comes close to an LT1 let alone an LS1.

 

My first car was a 01 v6 camaro when I was sixteen back in 2000. I drove that car for a couple years until trading it in on a used 01 Z28, I raced all kinds of **** in the v6 and never came close to any of the ls1's who played around with me. Although 5.0s where a different story haha....

I currently have both and there is no comparison....the v6 even has exhaust and 3.42s(came in 3.8L fbody M5s standard).

Once the clutch is out its a done deal!!!!

heh agreed unless that tb was the SS then i would think a v6 bird or whipwhipwhipwhip would take the normal TB.

i ran a v6 camaro in my 2004 grand prix GT2. so 3.8 vs 3.8 and i ever so slowly walked away

 

only thing i killed in my v6 bird was a few trucks and i think 5 stangs
the trucks were all v6's and 1 of the ponys was a V8 with no power lol

 

um let me think 200hp<350hp...... think about it
