Funny "race" with a friend Last week I'm on a cruise with my car club in Mexico, and we were doing some spirited punches. There are some nice Mustangs in our club (all boosted of course), and our president has an accord. He's a great guy who can appreciate all cars - he just loves hondas the most.
Anyway, after a few punches on the highway, he pulls up alongside me and revs (he has no horn). I give him a look through his tint like "Are you serious?" His car made 180whp on a dynojet and weighs about 2500 lbs with weight reduction. We both had a passenger, although his was his little girlfriend and mine was a 200 pound guy.
So my friend tells me I should pretend to lose for fun. I like the idea, so I take a look at the traffic ahead. It looked like we had the space for a short race. I give my buddy in the Accord three honks, and wait for a full 3 seconds. By then he's about 3.5-4 lengths ahead of me, so I mash the gas at a 60 roll. My car does best at 50 rolls, and starts at about lowest RPM possible from a 60roll. At least with my stall it's never a BAD roll.
After mashing the gas I pull on him HARD, and we have to shut down when I'm right next to him. We get off on our exit, and pull up next to each other at the light. I tell him, "You got me!" just to be funny. He's kinda proud and surprised. He says, "That's that automatic tranny! Gotta wait for it to downshift," So I burst his bubble and tell him that I didn't actually hit the gas for a full 3 seconds. I felt kinda bad cause I could see the disappointment on his face. He was really excited to be even with me. lol
It was a fun night, and he took it well though. He complimented my car about 5 more times the rest of the night.
