Kinda looks like a big twin V harley and sounds doggish.A co-worker just bought it and says it's way faster then my car could ever be.

What do you think,i don't know much about this particular bike,i want to race him.

I have no clue as to what the bike is capable of. There biggest advantage is the launch and intitial acceleration(power to weight). SO race from a roll. The higher the start speed the better.

is the guy a good rider?, that could realisticly be a couple seconds, no joke, probably low 12's with a real rider, if he's just givin what he's got and cant really handle the machine, or its just a pos anyway (it is a honduh), you should take um!

Fast Eddie,
If it is a VTX, then they run a 12.21 @ 107.48 mph.
Problem is that launching a bike is hard compared to a car. You don't have to worry about doing a wheelie.
If he hasn't drag raced before, race him from a dig and you will at least hang with him, if not beat him.
Most bike riders read the bike magazine 1/4 mile times and think they can ride their bike that fast when they have never even launched one before. There's a fine line between bogging, doing a wheelie or just plain smoking the back tire.
So race him and tell us what happens, he doesn't expect you to win, so there is no pressure on you, just him. That's in your favor too. he can easily blow a second or more on the launch!

I was attempting to tell some of these guys that exact same point awhile back, and they all kept saying "nah bikes can run 11 second quarters blah blah blah". None of them understand it is MUCH more difficult to launch a bike then it is to launch a car. The only chance us cars have against some of these monster sports bikes is from a dig. If you catch them from a roll it is MUCH easier for them, and they will probably walk you.
As he said above, if the guy is a newbie to bike riding go from a dig. If he knows how to ride, your probably going to lose either way.

I will race him from a dig,you guys are right. There was a bike at grudge night and he got beat by the fast cars because he couldn't launch the bike, once he got beat he was having a harder time coming off the line,he got nervous.

I'm going to play a head game with him,it's easy to launch an A4 car

Actually the sport bikes are rockets, the 600s are running 10.7s and the 1000s are running low 10s to high 9s. I've owned both and have a R1 now and can say launching one is not an easy task. So the race from the dig is the way to go, because a few down shifts from a roll and a bike will walk you all day long unless you are putting down serious power.

I've raced it a few times, but not at the track. I personally would rather ride it fast through turns, than in a straight line. Sport bikes aren't designed for drag racing, you have to get an extended swing arm and lower the front forks, etc., and then it doesn't corner worth a ****.
I weigh 195 lbs, so I don't hurt the bike as much as some people, but I'm not a feather weight either.

That bike prob weights as much as a car. Go from a stop, and you should be coo. I have a Ninja ZX-11 and its a PITA to launch as posted above.

Joseph,

The bike looks heavy and sounds like a dog, that's why i'm challenging him.I saw him get on it leaving work one day and it didn't seem to pull very well at all.

The funny thing is,my co-worker thinks i'm out of my mind challenging him to a race.I'll make it interesting, loser buys lunch.

I take it you've never raced a bike
Where you will pull on him the most is off the line. Race from a dig for sure since it sounds like this bike is packin some lbs.

I wouldnt race from a roll. bikes pull you at lower speeds. I'd only race from a roll if i was planning on going 120-130+ MPH, you will start to catch him up top.

But i will admit i have no idea how fast this bike is.

A little google search goes a long way:

2002 Honda 1800 Performance-Stock
1/4 Mile
12.12 seconds @ 108.60mph

0-30mph
1.2 seconds
0-60mph
3.5 seconds
0-90mph
7.6 seconds
0-100mph
9.6 seconds
Top Speed
140mph

That thing flies..... That's a bad *** cruiser...
Take a look at 0-60 and think about racing from a dig!
They are 705lbs dry.

Good luck.
Tommy

those times are with a pro rider not a fat ***, and those are also corrected times, the guy your talkin about will probably be lucky to be in the 13's, and the "he thinks he'll smoke you" factor, you'll kill um
