I took the new formula to grandma's house for Easter to show the relatives.
I pulled up to a stop light right before a bottle neck (all lanes go into one), and next to me rolls up a black on black new challenger.
He revved his car a bit, I figure either testing the waters or just showing off to who ever was in the passengers seat.
The light changed and I jumped on it (I though he had me on HP so I wasn’t taking any chances). To my surprise I herd a bit of tire squealing from his lain and herd his engine wind up.
His nose was at my passengers door from the jump.
He seemed to drop back slowly.
When I hit second he was at the back of the door
when I hit third he was at the back tire/ blind spot
he finally barked into second and seemed to be holding.
by the time I hit forth it looked like he gave up and sat on my *** the rest of the way to grannys house. He gunned it as I turned right into her drive about 3 miles down the road
My question is how was this possible?
I thought those cars were 425hp and about 4300lbs?
I have a 98 formula M6
- edelbrock headers and catted Y pipe
- slp loud mouth exhaust
- Fast toys ram air kit
- slp air lid
- K&N drop in (wooptee friggin doo)
- 4:10 rear end
- 90mm maf
- smooth bellows
- hypertech re-map
- pro 5.0 shifter
- quick hand and quicker feet
I cant be pushing any more than 340HP at 3600lbs.
I’m thinking that the only way this makes sense is that he didn’t really gain much traction till just before the second gear shift and by then it was too late to get around me before his lane merged.
Either way his loss.
I have to say, I didn’t see much of his grill because it was buried in my *** the whole time down the road but that car does have a rather impressive hood and I enjoyed the pissed off look on the drivers face the rest of the way down the road

I imagine they'll run high 12s on a good day, which is a bit slower than your car *should* be capable of. So good kill
. I didn't think they had released them yet though?
Either way, excellent choice of motorcycle... my first (only) bike was a naked '03 SV650. FUN bikes

Those cars weren't made to be 1/4 mile killers, they look like attractive, powerful, cruisers.
Good kill BTW.

Thats the first one I saw on the road.. hell, could have been a dealer, or some one sneaking one out of the tech center for the weekend. I do have a lot of engineers living in the subs around me.
I love that little thing. Like every thing else I own I lucked appon it. My dad has had a 78 suzuki gs750. He bought it new and still rides it. I guess the name stuck with me. I went to buy this one (behind the parents backs because I knew they didnt approve) and I saw the price diffrence between the SV and the GSXR. I also noticed that they made sv1000's which meant I could buy a sv650 and once I got the hang of street riding (first road bike) I could find a wrecked 1000 and swap the engine. It was only after I picked it up that I started to notice all the people raving about how well they handel.
Im very happy with it!

I don't know how it is with the Challenger, so I'm only guessing here, but the torque management could be killing it off the line as well. I was reading in a Mopar forum and the 5.7 and 6.1 Hemi guys were having a discussion on how to disable it or tone it down to get better quarter times.
Either way his loss.

$60,000???What are you smoking my friend?
You are very proud that a FOUR door, family car, weighing 1000 pounds more than your car hanged with you the whole way....??!! Oh...and there is the fact that torque management could have been slowing him down, raising the possibility that he could have jumped ahead with you trying to catch up,in other words you losing. This is pathetic and totally ridiculous, you must have a very high self esteem....

$60k probably isn't too far off what the going price will be for those wanting the Challenger SRT8 anytime soon...
I read somewhere that one of the car mags tested the upcoming SRT8 Challenger and only managed a 1/4 time that was only a tenth or two better than a bone stock S197 GT. Why oh why did Dodge make that damn thing so heavy? I agree with an earlier post.......the new Challenger is starting to make the GT500 look like a welterweight.
I also read somewhere that the Challenger is only supposed to be a two year run? Anyone know if this is true? If so, those cars are gonna be hella expensive to drive off the lot.
