Default Almost killed by a Neon

Yeah. you read it right. A neon.

Before I say anything, let me tell the story. I was going down the fast lane of 287 about 85-90 mph (no cops ever on 287... hehe), when I see this silver neon riding my ***. Wtf? I didn't even know they could get up to speeds like that. So I start to accelerate a bit, move by a car in the middle lane and move over. He starts ripping it, so I stick two fingers out of the window ("Peace!") and push a little more throttle. Little do I know, the little **** is still on me, but I'm walking away from him. By now we're going about 105-110, I was impressed that he was still with me, and embarassed for being such an ******* with the two-fingers thing. I ripped it, and I quickly ran away from him. After shutting down at about 125-130 and decelerating to about 115, he did the famous import fly-by with a middle finger out the window, and I'm pretty sure I heard a turbo. The exterior looked stock, and it definitely was NOT an SRT-4. My friend, who was in the car, said he saw R/T badges (not SRT). I was impressed though, quick little car. The driver definitely knows his stuff.

Good to see a driver with a quick neon, civic, etc that hasn't been riced it out. It was kinda cool, at first I was angry because I hadn't blown him away, but even with the middle finger, ya gotta respect the car.

That's it guys. Hope ya enjoyed it.

UPDATE- Just found out later tonight that a plug wire has been fried on my headers. I found out after I heard a tick under the hood, popped it, and saw a few sparks. So basically, I still ran a Neon with a blown v7... I feel a lot more secure about my car now, lol. Just thought I'd let you guys know, to keep my honor. Peace.

yeah well... I was an ******* to him too, so I guess I kinda deserved it. I shoulda floored it right from the beginning and just blew him away so he wouldn't have a chance to tell his friends he smoked a Z28 with rims and an exhaust (i doubt he coulda knew i had the blower). I guess that's what I get for being overconfident. Not a clean kill at all...

Well the reasoning for that was not to go easy on him, but the rebuilt motor has only got about 300-350 miles on it, so I'm trying not to push it too much yet. Sometimes I just gotta show people the car's got mroe than a catback and some enkeis, though...

Enough with the damn rebuilt motor excuse. Take 2 days off from work, and drive the damn car all over ny and nj. By the time you get home you'll have like 1000 miles on it, and you'll be ready to do some killing.

As for the neon, never EVER let that happen again. You realize what is going to happen here? First hes gonna go tell his buddies, "yo this kid in a Z thought his car was fast and gave me a peace sign, and barely pulled on me" ... then his buddies are gonna tell they're friends "yo blabla ran up to this Z who gave him the peace sign and he stayed dead even with him". .... then its gonna goto they're friends, who are gonna be like "yo blabla in his neon decimated this kid in a Z that gave him a gang sign."

I can see it now ...

Heh, I'm just kidding. Thats what happens when you underestimate a car, you find yourself either losing, or making it a much closer race then it should've been. Btw, for future reference, its always best to give some sort of hand guesture AFTER your already blowing by the guy. Otherwise you wind up in the situation like you were in, or WORSE, the guy starts passing you as you have your sign out the window. How embarrassing that would be ...

Hey guys... just found out I fried a wire on one of my header tubes... so the car is only runnin on 7 cylinders. Could be why I didn't blow away the neon. Big relief there.

Damn! I'm gonna have to start driving my wife's Neon some more, lol. I have taken out anemic 5.0L mustangs with it before, although it wasn't even hard.

Those SRT4's have been picking on LT1's here recently.

It def wasn't an SRT4, as I said:

Seems like our friendly mod big Joe likes to skim through the posts a wee bit too much

And I think I showed him that he made a big mistake to pick on this LT1, even with a cylinder not firing.

Just to add something interesting...

My car, being 5.7 liters, is about .7125 liters per cylinder. Take those same .7125 liters, multiply it by 7 (the number of firing cylinders when I raced the Neon), and what do you get... 4.9875. Rounded off, it becomes 5.0.

5.7 / 8 = .7125

.7125 x 7 = 4.9875

Lol, dunno, I was just foolin around wondering what my displacement would be in general with one less cylinder, and it seemed pretty coincidental that Joseph mentioned the stang 5.0s. Pretty pointless, but still interesting.

Another "shocked by a Neon story":

I was shocked when I went to Skip Barber racing school. The students all had formula 1 style race cars, and the instructor (lead car) was driving a NEON ACR. Those friggin' cars handled incredibly straight from the factory. They pull over 1g in the corners, and actually had decent acceleration (all about the gearing) Anyway, I have a new respect for the ACR version of those stupid little 4 bangers... not that you ever see those on the street.

Lol yeah. Like I said before, I'm not too much of a fighter. I fought wayyyy too much in high school and middle school to be doing it after I'm 18, when I could REALLY get in trouble.
