Its not the same engine, they are close, the vette has the ls9, the CTS has the lSA. The Ls9 has titanium valve train parts and better internals, its like the termi vette. Also i heard some rumors that the new camaro will have a ls8 option which is another 6.2liter supercharged engine by GM, not to mention the ZR-1 vette will be around 100k, and the CTS-V will probably be 60k+

grate thread for me to read, i own a 350z 6spd, and a new R/T charger,
both cars lacks power. the charger lounches pretty well, but looses the acceleration i.m.o but starts to add up agen on high speed,
the Z is probably one of the best cars i-ve ever owned, spot on handling

It's good to see that some people actually do have the facts straight about the 350zs. Pre-07 350zs should still be a hair faster than a Charger R/T assuming all else equal including drivers. They are close enough that a good driver in one car and a bad driver in the other could definitely be the deciding factor. Obviously an SRT-8 is another story. 2007 350z would dispatch a Charger R/T nicely.

i own both cars.. the Z is faster than the charger.. both cars are SLOW.. but the charger is just more slow,
my Z went realy high 13's stock, 6spd type base. i would guess the charger would go 14.5+

i've ran high 13's in my bone stock edge and i see many ls1 camaros run mid 13's so they aren't much faster...granted i know many of them run low 13's but still.
but yeah my car is slow...

I don't think the 350z is really meant to be drag raced.
That's not to say the vq35de and HR aren't potentially potent powerplants.
The car just doesn't hook up or come with enough power bone stock (DE, not HR)...
On the plus side concerning the 350z, their prices are dropping like lead baloons, so it might make a decent budget track car in the future (or just another LS1 swap ***** for you guys, LOL/jk).

Even boosted, most of them aren't comparitivly that fast. I test drove a stillen charged z, with full tien suspension w/ FDIC (or whatever the electronic **** is), FMIC, and supporting mods. Was maybe mid 12's car at like 108-112 at most. Now some can and have been built bad ***, but for the most part its to much money, and not enough power to begin with.

I agree. I love g35's, and the new g37, but aside from bolt ons, I would NEVER try to make a bad *** street/strip car out of it. Just a nice peppy cruise car, nothing more. The good thing about that blown z though...04 with 4000 miles, and warrenty. Not bad in that aspect, but the price was ******* retarded.

I love my Z, but to be honest I considered selling it not too long ago. I've put almost 15k in mine car and am in the low 400's. When I bought my Z I paid 26k for it and I've beaten myself up about this a lot. I could have gotten a 00+ WS6, one of my all time favorite cars, for about 10k less and if I chose too could have then put 25k in a LS1. In the long run I've decided to keep it unless I get exactly what I want for it. I love the way it handles and plus it's not every day you see a 350z as fast as mine, at least not in this area. I used to get people mess with me all the time. I haven't had anybody local try to run me in a long time though. Word gets around quick!

It's good news for me though LOL, I'll be looking for a decent roadster or coupe to turn into a track/street car and those 350zs are getting close to the sub $10k mark...
