Default z28 vs the almighty skyline

My buddy came over to let me check out some of the new parts he just had installed. He was dynoed at low 400 rwhp w/ patriot ls6 heads, ms4, fast intake, 90mm tb and LTs. He ran 113 mph with just mac mids/intake/exhaust/gear, so I figure its a upper teen car now on the motor?? He takes me for a spin and when we get to the main street leading out from my house, a grey skyline (i believe R33) comes flying by! We immediately make the turn and give chase.

The light up ahead turns red and there are already two cars sitting at the lights so we didnt attempt a pass at this point. We end up next to the skyline, and he is sitting there with this sh*t eating grin on his face as he probably thought we didnt have enough to pass him. The car ahead of us makes his turn and we speed up to allow mr skyline to pull behind us so that we can line up and go from a honk. Instead, he attempts a running start to pass us immediately. We gun it in 2nd and it was neck and neck as we fight for traction. Im a bit worried for a sec, but one in third we get a length or two and then we had to shut it down because of a red light up ahead. A litttle too close for comfort....

the light turns green before we actually arrive at the light so again, he hits it first and its a battle from a slow roll in 1st. he is a bit ahead in 1st, we make up the ground and pull a bit in 2nd, but then by 3rd and 4th, its all camaro and we end up quite a few lengths ahead.

We arrive at the next light and i roll my window down to say good race, but the dude looked really upset and wouldnt even look over. Im going to bet a million dollars he is telling his friends that the first race was close, then the 2nd race we decided to spray him. There is a tnt 150 shot on the car, but it was all throttle and no bottle.

Nice kill. I've never run into one of those before. Gonna have to read up on them now. What year was it roughly?

With those mods if his skyline was keeping up with that car it wasnt stock, the r33s didnt even make 300hp at the crank stock. The R33 was a high 13 second car stock with a decent driver, so if he was hanging with a semi built ls1 he had work done which is why he looked pissed lol

No way it was stock. The sound of the turbos spooling up was very noticeable and it had an exhaust. Anyone willing to spend the money importing a RHD skyline to Canada is going to have some money into it.

Based on the look on his face when we first lined up, he really thought he was going to eat us for lunch.

M6 or A4?

If it's an A4, is it stalled?

My car has a comp 231/237 cam only and it only made 373rwhp, when there are guys with smaller cams hitting 400rwhp.

My car is stalled and it runs 11.95@ 112mph on DRs with full weight.

Dyno numbers mean nothing, just take it to the track where you'll get real numbers.

Depends on the type of dyno.

Its a M6. It sounds low to us too, but the car has always run well, so maybe its just the dyno?

ETs arent great as its set up as a road race car, but traps were decent.

Stock = 108 mph
Bolt ons = 113 mph
Bolt ons + 100 shot (half bottle) = 122 mph
With H/C etc + 150 shot expecting high 120's if not 130 mph traps.

+1, although times are the most important thing. Dyno #'s do have meaning behind them. The only people that seem to say they don't didn't make as much as they wanted to. I garantee you that if the same person made an obscenely high # they would be all about dyno #'s. A more accurate statement would be that dyno #'s are not the most important thing.

Could be the dyno....look at my time and numbers in sig. I'm M6 and read low dyno numbers. Normally, M6's are dyno queens. Bone stock i trapped 107. My best trap ever with bolt on's is 114mph.

Dont be too concerned about dyno #'s its just a tool I Got 340 with headers cam stall and gears on a mustang dyno, yet went 12.005 1.6 60's at 113. Take it to the track then you dont need to street race anymore just show them your Slip haha.

Nice kill. There's a black R32 here in Southern MD that a Navy guy has. I've only seen it on a trailer. When I was in Japan I saw a black R34 and a Blue STI fly past our rental van on the way to Narita airport. We were doing about 130 KPH and they flew past like we were moving backwards. Definitely sweet cars. Too bad about the ricer fanboy following.

If it was a mustang dyno, they give the lowest #'s which is supposedly more accurate, so if you have 360 on a dynojet and a similar engine and car has 340 on a mustang dyno, chances are you'll get beat in a race
