Firebird 455
Driving on 394s. (4 u locals) on my way to see my girlfriend last night and this BADASS sounding 2nd gen firebird merges in front of me. Sounded mean as hell with slicks in the back. Right away im thinking this car will suck the paint of of mine. So were driving and he tries to get ahead of the pack by going to right lane, but gets stuck behind a semi and as i pass him he throws me a pretty mean rev. He then ducks in behind me and follows till we get open road. First race from a 65 roll we both hit it and i pull 3/4 of a car on him and hold till 120 when we let off. Catch a light at Sauk trail talk to the guy and its a 73 firebird w/ a 455 with some work, didnt get into details. I ask if he wants to run from a dig and he says sure. Green light, BAM were off, I walked him HARD. Hit the brakes at around 70 with him 4-5 cars back. Cool guy nice car. Next light hes turnin left im goin straight just bs-in with the guy and theres an older business looking guy in a newer mercedes (not sure on the model) in the right lane next to me. He was behind me in the 2nd race from the light. I look over at him and he just smiles and shakes his head "no" like he dosent want any and gives me a thumbs up. Thats it, sorry so long.

Re: Firebird 455
Was it the 455 SD? Cause those make a crap load of horsepower and even more torque. Check out this page http://www.angelfire.com/mi/jamos1/sdtrivia.html it's got a ton of info on that car if it was the SD and not the HO. Awesome race either way and grats on the kill.

Re: Firebird 455
The guy never said if it was a 455 SD or HO. So , im not sure what engine i raced. I do know that if that car wasnt so heavy he probably would have killed me from the roll. I think i still would've won from the dig though. However i did leave out that i got excelent traction from the light where as he spinning so......

Re: Firebird 455
i doubt it was a sd or ho, they are extremly rare and even if it was a sd they are 13.4-2 sec cars, that was better than most pre-air control act of 72 muscle cars. i have a 68 firebird with a 463(.30 over 455). the amount of torque they make is amazing. you must have raced a lo-po 455 with a mean sounding exhuast. i say this bc you beat him so bad from a dig, it should have been the other way around with you cathing and passing around the 1/8mi mark.
