2.73 A4 T/A takes down C6 convertible...
Competitors
'07 Convertible Corvette - Stock 6 speed
vs
'99 T/A - a4, lid, catback
Scenario
Just cruising around w/ the t-tops off enjoying the 90 degree western Washington weather. I catch a glimpse of some C6 headlights weaving through cars trying to catch me. Kind of caught me off guard because most Vette owners around here won't go 5mph over the speed limit.
He gets to the red light a few seconds before me and I see him sitting there w/ no brake lights on so I figure "hey it's a 6 speed, maybe I will take him off the line then watch him blow by". I pull next to him and look over and let him know how nice I think his car his. He gives back a compliment and shoots me a little rev. Now I know it's on so my adrenaline gets a little going.
I see the light for the cross traffic go yellow so I immediately stall my car up to about 1200 rpms. Light goes green and I launch perfectly. He quickly falls 2 cars back and it only got worse from there. By 80 when I shut it down he was about 3-4 cars back.
THE BEST PART!!!!
We catch the next light and he says "wow that thing is quick!". Sorta stunned by what had just happened I say thanks and ask him how long he has had his car. After finding out it's an '07 and he has had it for 7 months, I asked if it was an ls2 or ls3 (adrenaline was still pumpin' so I couldn't think straight). He gets a deer in a headlight look on his face and says......"huh". So I say a little bit louder "LS2 OR LS3?!?!?". He again looks puzzled and says "oh not sure, but it's got the "Z" package". I imagined he was referring possibly to the Z51 package, but the light went green before I could ask anymore quesions.
Conclusion
Nearly stock T/A blows the doors off a C6 Vette who needs a serious upgrade in the driver mod category. And the driver who seemed to be a non-typical Vette owner ended up being a typical Vette owner (at least the majority in my area)

It was definitely the case of being at the right place at the right time. Running into a Vette owner that obviously can't drive his car and even better does not even know what is under the hood. I take it as a hilarious situation more than a kill. Now I just need to get some mods so in case I do run into a good driver I can have a fighting chance

Nice win.
For the record, since 2006 they're ALL 6 speeds, you must now specify if it's a manual or automatic because the automatics are 6 speeds too but I knew what ya meant.
I'm sure ya know this now but if it's a factory/stock '07 it has to be an LS2, '08 was the first year for the LS3 (assuming that it's not a Z06 of course).

I have 3.73s sitting in my garage along w/ some QTP headers waiting to get installed .
He was definitely racing...at least from the greenlight. He bogged down heavy off the line and not sure how hard he tried after being a few cars back on the street. Again I know this guy should have tore me a knew one...but it was fun getting a quick run in while cruising around the beautiful weather
