WS6 vs. s2000
...I know this is the kill section, but the main point of this is for my question at the end, so if it needs to be moved, please do so lol.
Ok first let me start off by saying my car is 98 TA WS6 M6 with an air lid and borla catback, my friends car is an 01 S200 with Injen CAI, Berk TP, Skunk 2 exhaust, Spoon Sports Engine Dampener, and 4.77 gears. Yeah thats right 4.77 gears. We first decided to go from a 20 roll on the highway well right off the bat he jumped out to about a half car lead once i let off at right about redline in 4th and had him by about half a car. The second race was from a 40 roll. I slammed into second and we were dead even untill again i let off at redline in 4th but this time i had him by a little more then a car length. I've heard the ls1 has a ton up top but damn, i honestly don't wanna get blown away from a slow roll. I have a OR Y pipe and race headers getting ready to go on, once those are on i'll be ordering an LS6 intake manifold then a tune. Will that be enough to get me to pull away from him at a slower speed or will the 4.10's be a must?
Like i said if this needs to be moved feel free to do so!

Well the s2000 has pretty much no low end torque so those gears must have really helped him. There is a guy around my area with one and its a sled until it gets way up in the rpm range. The guy floored it up a hill and he was half way up the hill before the car seemed to go anywhere. He was messing with me one day but he was stupid like a typical import racer and going like 80 in 25 and 30mph zones so instead of jeopardizing my CDL I let him go. I say put the gears, ls6 intake and the nitrous and let him have it. Oh yeah and some drag radials because without them your going to go up in smoke.

the headers and ory will make a world of difference. you will FEEL the power gain, after that i would hold off on the ls6 intake and either rebuild the rear with 3.73s, you really dont need 4.10s because that is for the 1/4 mile if you have ALOT of work, or save for a decent came and have it dyno tuned, you will destroy him.
i would go with a 228-230 duration, .550ish lift and a 113 lsa. also replace the springs, pushrods, and lifters.
with the ls6 intake you are only leaving a few hp on the table, that should come after the cam. ALSO get a ported TB for the LS6 intake, it will make your throttle response quicker. and like stated above, DRs mickey thompson type are the best.

LOL, i posted the exact same race on s2ki.com
Run one, one of my buddies has a WS6 with exhaust, first run from a 15 roll, Instantly I pull one car, shift into 2nd, stay a car ahead, shift into 3rd around the same time he shifts? He falls back a little more. At this point I was pumped. Then it hit, 4th gear lol. 4.77s = no fun over 90. He started creeping back up on me, Finally shifted into 5th and he was door to door with me. Then I let out with him about 1/2 car in front.
Run Two- 40 roll... same exact outcome
I will post up the vids later man! Good runs tho
PS- I konw an s2k has no meaning being on this site, but someone from s2ki came across this i need spray, my car sucks over 90 lol
Ls1s>S2ks

Oh dude the runs were a good time. Those s2ks as quick as hell, especially with those 4.77's...Only part I didnt like was the fact my window motor went out and it was stuck down, and his motor was at 9 grand with the exhaust screaming in my ear...ouch lol

lol yeah it is loud, 4.77s help out so much down low till about 90. instant throttle response over the stock 4.10s, but the top end suffers to much! Ill post up the vids when i get home bro!

I have had 4.10's for 2 years now and they don't affect drivability nearly as much as you would think. I turn over 2000rpms @ 71mph in 6th. My low end pull is ridiculous and I still have a top end of around 170mph.
Where do you get off saying 4.10's are for 1/4 mile only? That is a pretty ridiculous comment.

Good runs man... it's amazing what a couple choice mods and a good set of gears will do to the S2000s. But I think I'm good keeping the 4.10s, cuz 4.77s would drive the rpms WAY up on the freeway.

In your sig it says nitrous - this is your best bet 100-125 shot and you'll walk him
