LS1 that Doesnt Launch
Now that you have better explained what you were saying and put a few extra clauses in there it makes more sense. I was under the impression you were telling him to bring it up to 5k and dump the clutch, which would definately break his car real quick.
I guess we were both going for the same thing, just explaining it in opposite directions.

I bring the RPMs(to whatever you wish to start at) up and let the clutch out slightly. Not to where the car moves, but where you can feel the clutch plates biting. SO that way, when the light goes green and you let it go it is not a shock to the tires or the drivetrain. This has produced the best times for me without smoking the clutch. You can take it a step further and have your right foot on the accelerator and the brake at the same time(heel and toe like) and your clutch foot just barely engaging the clutch.....kind of a poor man's line lock. Takes a little practice.
