Default 1996 TT/A vs TT 06-07 Vette

Was out trying to get the bugs out of my setup this weekend. Doing some tuning and I ran upon the car I wanted to see run forever.

It is a 06 ls2 vette with Twins on it. Meth injection also and all the goodies. Guy has far too much money. lol.

Well anyways, I was still gettin the car tuned in and only running about 10 degree's of timing and runnin at 11ish afr. So lil rich and timing way conservative still. Boost is about 140-145 kpa (8-9lbs on my guage).

We came to a light heading out onto an old highway in between town and the suburb I live in. We both left the light slowly and layed into it about 30 feet out. my converter flashed and we stayed right next to each other. The turbo spooled and spun through first, shift at 5k... spun in second... at this point the vette had two cars on me.

I shifted into third at 5k (not having a tach and not knowing where I was in rpms).... I dont have a speedo so not sure how fast we were going when we stopped. He had 4 cars on me still pullin...

I talked to him down the road and he said he was on high boost (dont know where that is tho...) and sprayin meth. Really sweet car though... wish it was mine
So all in all.. GOOD loss =D

Still got some tuning to do and meth will go on... update after rematch..

EDIT: From a roller he demolished me.... wasn't even a race. Cant compete with the 6 speed at all there...


My setup (for sake of comparison)

Stock 6x,xxx mile 5.3 out of a Tahoe (salvage yard in Denver =D)
01 Ls1 intake (not ls6 =/)
97 vette rails with built in regulator
Truck mani front mount w/Turbonetics 76mm
42# @43.5 psi injectors running at 58psi (stock ls fp)
Walbro 255

Redneck Performance Fully built th350 (36 element lower sprag, high friction clutchs, t-brake, blah blah)
Custom 3500 rpm stall (anti balooning plates and those goods)

Umi adjustable torque arm
stock 3.23 rear gears (yes. 10 bolt LOL)

And timing. WIll get it to about 15-16 degrees advance in boost from the ten I have now. Also wrapping all the hot parts tonight.

Also got a hold of a z06 cam and some 6.0 heads. So that may be in the works...

But the meth kit will be going on with more boost/timin... hopefully that will give the vette a better run. I think with better tires and more timing alone I'll get him from a dig.

A boosted LS2= trouble. Not to mention the Vette has a weight, gearing and aero advantage.

Yes... yes it does.
But I got a solid axle & stalled auto

i think i can win from a dig till I run out of gear.

From a roll, i'll never win.

^I agree with you there. Once you get your setup dialed in I think you'll be able to take it from a dig. I don't know about never winnign from a rol, but it's gonna take alot more power than you ave now. Did he ever say how much power he's putting down? How about your car?

Nice runs, man. That Vette is no joke, but it sounds like your car is going to be a real beast when it's dialed in.
