99 Z28 vs Supra
I finally got the chance to run one of my favorite cars, and I was pleasantly surprised.
I had pulled out of my neighborhood, and about a mile down the road, my girlfriend asks, "is that a supra?"
Sure enough it is, and when I catch up to him, I goose it a bit, but he doesn't really bite. So I continue on my merry way, and I see him pull out of his lane and go to follow me around the light traffic. I make a right, he follows, and about half a car back, I see his front end lift slightly, and then I nailed it from there. I pulled the **** out of his car, and for the next 20 minutes, all I could think about was how I could have sworn he wasn't racing.
He follows us to Carls Jr. and when he sees us turn in, he just keeps going.
I would like to add Double Western Bacon Burgers are the ****.
We leave, and as we go to the light and to make a right to get on the main road, Mr. Supra is in front of us. I notice at this time, he has a very large diameter exhaust pipe, not the usual rice **** I see on most civics, and what looks like 275s out the back (possibly bigger). Also has some random gauges on his A-pillar, and a noticeable BOV.
He recognizes my car behind him, we get on the the main road. He is about 2 cars ahead of me at this point, and I give it a little gas to catch up to him, when he just nails it, and I follow suit a split second later. This race was different though, as neither of us lost or gained any ground at all, all the way up to about 115-120. He slows down, and goes "damn, that car is fast", and he mentions he was running low boost before, and this race he was running 14 lbs. From what I understand, 14lbs is a bit low for supras, and I was surprised how easily I hung with him... especially the fact that he complimented my car.
My mods are marginal at best:
3600 stall
built tranny
true duals
lid....

Stock psi for a BONE STOCK supra is 11-12psi. Also, he most likely isn't even BPU (BPU is a trademark upgrade level made by suprastore.com and means over 18 psi and more than just a muffler
) considering he is still below the stock fuel cut-off of 15 psi. He needs a Greddy BBC (or the likes) to remove this limiter. These are facts, nothing to debate.Good race none the less, you two were pretty even, and you look very lightly modded as well.

I still
at your Pooprafanboyzz on the old LS1.com forums claiming 11s from ONLY a 'fish tank valve' boost controller, with everything else bone f'ing stock! <-
Also; they should just list out their mods instead of all the BPU++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ crap!!
There is NO WAY to standardize what each one of their +es mean as far as mods go.

I actually have a problem with what the supra owner in this story said. I REALLY doubt he has a power FC or controllable boost controller inside his car so he can up the boost 2 psi, especially considering he was probably still limited. My guess is he's a poor driver (so he sucked on the first run) or he got the jump on you in the second race and the supra's top end barely kept pace with you.

"Yeah, you guys didn't know that he goes around the country popping up for races here and there and then disappearing into the night?"...ricer fanboys stare in awe...
Nice kell.
I like the Supras, but Rich guys and Fan Boyz have taken what is a very good performing car and turned it into the face of the Fast & The Furious generation.

He hesitated to play, but he bit eventually.
Edit: No track times for me yet, too god damn hot to go to firebird :/

Yeah... this 112-115 degree heat isn't exactly friendly is it?

I do agree with what someone said here. Alot of people build these cars for the wrong reasons. Mostly for bragging rights...Putting a gigantic turbo that you will not enjoy very much on the street because of excessive lag and no traction on street tires is useless. Not to mention most of these high power cars need to run on 116+ octane ALL THE TIME that's easily in the $12/gall+ range. Not exactly my idea of a street car.
I do love what the cars can do though in the proper hands.
Good kill OP.
