I do agree with what someone said here. Alot of people build these cars for the wrong reasons. Mostly for bragging rights...Putting a gigantic turbo that you will not enjoy very much on the street because of excessive lag and no traction on street tires is useless. Not to mention most of these high power cars need to run on 116+ octane ALL THE TIME that's easily in the $12/gall+ range. Not exactly my idea of a street car.

I do love what the cars can do though in the proper hands.

Good kill OP.
You know, if the owners expectation is to have a killer top end highway car and put down a big dyno #, have some amount of exclusivity, and a ton of respect (if that even matters to you) thats not bad. You will never have all of that in a Honda or most other mundane makes. The Supra can always stand on its own for the above mentioned items.

Down side is it's not inexpensive(initial cost for a clean one and parts), it's not light, and it has a hole in its low rpm power band if you are shooting for 1000 RWHP #'s.

There are exceptions to the above but there is only so much you can do with a small/med ci motor.

I hate holes in the powerband... a lot

I don't find myself complaining about that in the camaro though, so it works out nicely.

I see no reason to go any bigger than a gt35r (or the likes) with a 2jz supra. Awesome power band, good numbers, and a powerful setup that's good on the 1320, roadcourse, and street. The T88s out there can perform decently, if you have the budget for a 3.4 stroker crank, a rediculous valvetrain and cams (nothing wrong with launching at 6000 if you can shift past 9000), or spray off the line.

They never were (and never will be) great road course cars, regardless of the turbo size/setup.
Now if you are implying decent road course rides, that I agree with.

Don't post up your all Japan GT series Poopras either as those are a whole different species of animal.

They're not horrible around a roud course and I couldn't care about the gt500 cars (which aren't mine). In stock form they are pretty quick around a track, but RX7's, Silvias, etc walk all over them... Technically, they're statistically better than an LS1 f-body in nearly every roadcourse way though (70-0 braking,Drag Coeff.,Skid pad). I have seen some nasty track dedicated ones though. Saw one modded one run road atlanta quick enough to place first but the competition was light. Wouldn't be my choice of cars for the roadcourse though... Better off w/ an S15, FD3S, or EVO6.

REAL race car drivers, in a REAL race series featuring wheel to wheel competition.
Slighty different, no??

I also made a differentiation between GREAT and decent in a previous post.

I love supras. Especially the one that walked my *** from 20 mph-135mph, with him being 10-12 cars ahead lol.

Yes, by a wait for it, a Poopra owner/defender of course!

Why we can't let a dearth of worship go on for too long on the indomitable and infallible pride of Japan supacar, now can we??

But lets all remember, if we lived in a world without Superchargers, Turbos, and NOS, and all we had were the engines, The Supra and most Japanese cars would never even be considered on the same level as American Muscle engines. Unfortunately, we don't, but it still proves my point about how inferior Japanese engines are, as is, without power adders.

That's the point of small displacement, forced-induction engines. You don't need excessive cubic inches to get the job done. What's wrong with that?

Um... seriously? You can't compare a Civic to an F-body when you're talking about N/A performance. Compare a Civic to an n/a Cobalt, or a Focus or something like that. Then tell me which one has the "inferior" engine. My mom's old '94 Q45t had 278hp. From a 4.5l V8. The LT1 F-bodies had 275hp, from 5.7l. Inferior engines? And let's not even get into V6s.
