you can at least sleep well knowing his car either blew up on the way home or give it a week....

mitsu = garbage

I had a friend who had one, finally came to his senses and got rid of that pile. Just one example, but Eclipses have more major problems than any other car I've ever dealt with in person.

yeah no kidding, ive worked at a mitsu dealership. saw the same cars in the bays month after month with totally different crap breaking each time. they can be fast while they last though, but you have to be ridiculous about maintaining them

Driving the car in reverse I take it?

OP, expected death. I love racing DSMs, you never know what you're going to get.

LOL yeah it was a typo. I am so used to my ls1 that it is a habbit now. As it was a GST it was FWD.

As much as my POS gst broke down I dont miss it a bit. Unlike my GTO "Nellie" the eclipse was not named anything but POS, my wife loved to call it that lol.

I find it funny every time I hear about DSMs breaking each time you make a pull on the streets.

Mine is daily driven at 30 psi on pump 94 and it doesn't break often. My turbo is way bigger than a 16g, lol. I didn't dyno it at 30 psi, but at 24 psi, I was at 421 AWHP on a mustang dyno. Now I'm at 30 psi and the car is 3000lbs with me in. The thing rips

What I have changed in the last year are the followings: clutch (lasted 2 years, not bad), brakes, battery, alternator and a pierced fuel line, some electrical problem. That's it.

I beat it almost every day, but I do it in an intelligent manner. I think that the problem are the people driving them, lol. Or maybe I'm just lucky, haha.

Edit: I forgot the intercooler had been welded 3 times (a crack each of those times cause a big leak) because of the high boost, lol.

2nd gen's, the 3rd one's are the v6's, slow as *****. Second and 1st gen's have a lot of modding potential. I used to own a couple, loved em as unreliable as they were they are really cheap and easy to make fast.

there are third gen 4cyl's, those are the gs's. the gt's are the v6, and their modding potential is quite low without a built engine. the 4cyl is slow stock but the motor is a 4G64, basically a stroked 4G63(the good evo motor). and from what ive heard that engine can stand about 18 or so pounds of boost stock, not too shabby for an engine not made for boost

my friend's was a Talon, looked mean as hell and ran well when it did

but the damn thing wouldn't hold together, he was a good responsible driver as well, not like he was being too hard on it

driven hard but not hard on it, the way it should be

That sucks for him. The key is to get the right parts the first time around. It's more expensive, but it's reliable

The more I read about mitsu cars I know they can can make crazy power and shouldn't be underestimated BUT if you can keep them running without breaking down they would be great Reliable cars
