02 SS Vs Challenger SRT8
Thats exactly what i was thinking Jay,do those motors need a break-in or somthing to reach their full potential? If i had a choice between all of the SRT8 models id choose the 300 due to its pimp factor

The underpowered comment was just a low ball attemt to throw a stab at dodge.Im not doubting that they put out good power in stock trim, they just did a bad job if they were trying to make a fast car.

I know man, its one thing to have a quick sleeper (300C) sneep up and win a street race but but failing to deliver a mid 12 sec car with the Challenger name and all the bs along the way is kinda weak. Very odd.
Yea, my favorite SRT was the 300 since it looks like a gangster car, huals azz and litterally rides and drives like a Mercedes.
No extra power after the 1k break-in on the 6.1. Just knowing what to do. Funny how low-13s and 108-110mph traps is suddenly "underpowered". jeeze!

Like I said before, if they make a lightweight stripper version available then I'll take back everything I've said.

actually the f-bodies are 100 less hp and they are gonna make a stripper version but its gonna be strictly for the track. The stripper version is supposed to weigh in a 3100ish lbs!
I still totally agree with you tho this times would be good for an R/T version or something but no the SRT

The problem is Dodge did was was fiscially smart, but not the best thing. They took a very large, existing platform and did the best they could given budget contraints. They did a decent job, but it will never compete in the SCCA at that weight. It's still a HUGE car.
And you're right, in the grande scheme of things, they really should be faster.

that 70k after dealer mark up must be a Cali thing because they were trying to pedal an orange one on me for the reg 42k here in Odessa. I was also mis informed that they were all pre ordered and you couldent get one. Guy said it was BS - they had a silver, black and orange one ready to go. Black looked sick but id have to get rid of both of my f bods to have one car thats just as fast but with no aftermarket. No thanks. Maybe when the SRT-8 Chargers get enough miles that i could get one for 20k. or less. Even then ill prolly just get an LS2 GTO. (and still keep the present fleet)
Good kill OP, your car is serious business though! I'm sure you will do in the new Camaro the same way when it hits the road.
Dodge could not wait to release the Challenger, so many out there wanting it and willing to pay through the nose to be one of the first to own it. It's the closest offering to a pony car to the Mopar guys and they have had to wait a very long time for it. I'm sure it will only get better over time though. Once the M6 is available I'm sure we will see some knowledgeable enthusiasts behind the wheel. I still haven't seen one yet.
Somewhat unrelated but seeing that sticker above reminded me... I was checking out corvetteforums earlier today and read about someone buying a Nissan GTR (which is a $70+K car) with a $30K markup!!!

good kill.... probly felt good killing a new challenger! i just saw my first challenger srt8 on the highway yesterday. it was going the other way. but they def weigh a TON.... but look pretty bad ***
seriously though, safty regulations are geting rediculous on these cars, and the added weight kills performance and gas mileage like nothing else. They need to stop making cars safer and let darwins theory sort it out.
