Just a test run...
It's been a while.
I'll try and be quick about this. Got the car running again, good enough to put some miles on it before I go to the dyno. Had a base tune built from the guys at diablosport(thank you for all the support) so the car can be used. Today, saturday, I go and pick up MikeL@diablosport for some data logging runs. We're coming up to a highway, that I need to get on,....up in front, I notice a black, amg something benz, two door, two seat, hardtop convertable, roof was up. I mildy buzzed around a few cars calmly, and followed the benz onto the highway above.
Turns out, it was a Cl63... had newer styled headlights that I hadn't seen before, and also a factory looking defuser,..it was an AMG, and it looked like it said 6. something on the fenders, right on the side gill vent.
Anyways, we hadn't noticed any of that yet. We were still behind the benz. Now, to be 100%, my car is not ready for any sort of WOT, or for that matter, real good part throttle acceleration. It needs to spend some time with the guys on the dyno for that. So, as a result, my car has some issues, more of a popping/sputtering, when you give it decent throttle input. We knew all of this but,..whatever. I figured i'd see what it was capable of, as it sat, half assed and all.
We roll up behind the benz, cause at the moment that was the only spot to go to.... We were doing about 70 mph,....when the Cl63 dropped the hammer, and attempted to dip out.
No today ******, not today. I layed, more like eased into the throttle,...and I was just steadly staying with him, then literally a second later, i'm making roughly 7psi and climbing, at a low rpm(I was paying attention to the benz, the tach, my fuel pressure, my boost pressure, and my coolant temp, so I may be off in my exact rpm guess) but, it was under 5k rpm,...next thing you know, my vette was about to smack that benz right in it's FAT ***, until I lifted, and coasted right up behind him. lol,...put my hands up and said "what"...as he watched in disbelief in his rear view.
When I lifted, I saw 9 psi, possibly 8. Regardless,...my *** needs to stop playing around and get to the dyno before I blow my **** up. lol. In the end, that car has gotta trap at around 120 something,..and I was about to barrel roll right over the top of him with a couple thousand rpm left.
Dope as hell. But, stupid of me without having a tune in the car. You should hear it under load....BLATTATATATATATATATATATATTATATATATATAvrrrr rroooooooommmmmm.... or something wild. KActually, it sounds like a ak 47 firieing out electric bullets. Yeah, trippy I know.
I then let him go ahead. I proved my point. Later on, in mild traffic, we caught up with him. He pulled over, outta my way. I then passed him. He got behind me, I was able to get by some traffic, and then move out of his way. He rolls alongside, looks at me, then punches it. Some traffic was up ahead, plus, I proved my point already, and MOST importanty(cause I have no problem racing the same car a million times) the car just isn't safe yet.
Anyways, sorry, thought this would be short but, whatever. Hope this is the first of many encounters of my imagination.
