281 Saleen Kill Just got done earlier this week repairing a destroyed flywheel (How it happened, I dunno). So I was cruising South 59 looking for trouble and I found it.
I came up on a Yellow 281 Saleen Vert doing around 60 or so, gave it some gas to get him to bite and he did.
He downshifted, got a 1/2 car lead and I followed suit. I caught up relatively easy and put over one car on him.
Went back to cruising speed and I noticed he had his signal to exit.
I wanted a piece of him from a dig, so I slowed and followed right behind. To my pleasure the light at the underpass was RED, he was in the center lane and i got to his left.
Couple of revs got him to bite again, and he did a mock stage; I was ready, NOS armed if necessary.
His reaction was a tad better but gave him no advantage.
Top of 1st, I got him by over a car, by mid second I could pull in his lane, Which I did (He He
), I let it ride till 3rd and then I shifted to OD.
One more noch on my belt!!!

Re: 281 Saleen Kill Nice kill. There is a black Saleen vert I want to race. MuscleSS watched him run 14.50's, then his buddy ran it somewhere lower in the 14's. Not bad for a blower car.

Tell you what, my mother has a Saleen you can race if you like. She is 63 yrs old and will oblige you if you care to tangle with a Saleen. I hope you don't mind losing badly to an old woman...

Re: 281 Saleen Kill These are not facts I have looked up, but from what I am told, S281= around two pounds of boost, and my understanding is it takes horsepower to turn the blower and blower creates extra heat, so without an aftermarket blower pulley for more boost, I do not understand having the blower on the car. Body kit and big wheels for added weight. I didn't find the article but I read the Rousch 380R which makes somewhere around 360-380 HP ran only mid 13's. It was in a recent Car Craft or Hot Rod. Don't get me wrong, they are good looking cars. I added the comment about the Rousch because they also have the big wheel/body kit combo.

I don't think Saleens are so slow. I've never driven one but I've seen a special edition advertised in Dupont registry as a "425hp SC SALEEN EXTREEME" so obviously they do have potential.
BTW guys in the same edition of Dupont Reg.(2001 edition), I saw a chevy dealer advertising a ZO6 special edition Camaros. Did u know these LS6 Z's existed??

Re: 281 Saleen Kill My home dragway is Englishtown Racetrack, but I won't be runnin there til next season. Winter- aftercooler, 12psi pulley, full drag suspension. I've started getting parts for the suspension, but the aftercooler is a hefty amount of $ that i don't have right now... I'll probably run with just the suspension, unless I can come up with some killer loot in a short amount of time. I'll let ya know when I'm runnin!
