We ran from 60 to 160 on an open road with he and I edging each other several times, but he let off with me a fender ahead of him. It was not only the closest race but also the fastest I had gone on the road.

My closest race was against a '99 6-speed TA.
His mods: Lid, LT's, ORY, tune, suspension mods (lowered, LCA's, PHB).
My mods (at the time): LT's, TD's, tune, lid, ported TB and Yank SS4000.
We raced three times and each time we were dead even.....it was really uncanny. We went from 30, 40 and 60 MPH. The best way I can explain it, it was like our cars were joined together. I couldn't pull an ounce on him and he couldn't pull an ounce on me. We raced up to 135 each time. It's not a win, but it defines "close"!

Me: 2000 Z/28-Mods:Air lid
Him: Fox body Mustang (unknown year) running a N/A 347.
Both of us on street tires. We ran three times from a low roll (his idea) and every time I was ahead litterly by just inches. Deffinitely got my blood flowing.
Me: 2002 SS-Mods: Cam, bolt-on, etc.
Him: Roush 427R Mustang-stock
We just got one clean run in from a low roll and I had him by less than a car. The closest race I ever had with the SS

me and my bro are always neck and neck!
Him: 03 mach 1 5 speed
me: 01 trans am a4 K&N intake bone stock other wise
we do a 3 freeway runs and takes me by a car.
Later I do my six speed swap I have a bunch of small mods(bassani true duals, K&N intake, 3.73s, aluminum flywheel, and vented clutch)
he got a header back bassani exhaust with x pipe and high flow cats, and a JLT intake also minor mods.
this time we race form first to fifth and I take him by a car. Both cars are really close, hes gonna super charge his next and should be pushing around 450whp and I am gonna do a H/C/I package that should do close to the same!

I pulled up to this nice street with long buildings with clean (not tagged up) walls, shiney mirror-like wondows and lots of exotic cars parked in there parking lots.
As i turn in there, I look to my right and see a yellow C5 Z06 like mine, the driver looks at me too, so I immediately floor it, spin a lil bit, regain traction and pull to the top of 2nd, it kept up with my stock Z tied!

My 2007 Mazdaspeed6 vs 2006 BMW M3 6spd. I wanted to run my buddies M3 ever since I had my MS6 and finally the night I unbolted my second cat to run open DP I got him to run me. I also had a ballin cone filter from Autozone strapped onto my stock tubing for hoo ha's. Anyways, we went from a 25 roll at the beginning of the highway and ran it up to 125mph, we were absolutely dead nuts even shift for shift. Hell, we could've parked next to each other and it couldn't have been any closer, I thought for sure he'd pull me like a freight train after I stuck it in 5th gear at almost 100mph.
My second best was a few days later with my same "mods" against my friends 2005 Cobalt SS/SC Stage 2. He was full GMPP Stage 2 plus a Stage 3 pulley, he was running over 20lbs of boost on a good night. He always punked out to race me but would talk **** constantly and try to "run" me when I was 100% stock and/or I was running 4 people deep. Well finally I haggled him into a race, not a dig like I wanted but we agreed on a 30 roll which actually turned into a 20 roll because he wouldn't slow down enough. Whatever, 20 was good enough for my 1st gear. 3 honks and we're off, I yank him hard down low and get him by about 1.5 cars through second, we're pretty even 'til I stick it in 5th at 100mph. Then he starts creeping up on me and at 140mph we let off dead even with each other, definitely blame it on the MS6's ECU cutting boost from 16psi to 6 after 6,000rpms which is AIDs considering that's pretty much all you see in 5th and 6th when racing.

My closest race was with a friend of mine who had a 99 FRC a few years back. He only had exhaust (no cats, stock headers), a Vararam (sp?), and I believe a tune. I had a few bolt-ons and small cams. I suck shifting into 5th, and he passed me both times when I did.

From a dig he had my bumper at his door and I slowly pulled back to have his bumper at my door by 125 the best race of my life. and the second best.
When I was in HS I had a 95 Caddy STS ( stock except for extra pimpness) Vs my friends 96 GT vert M5 wight a bbk cai/magnaflow cb from 40-120 we dead even and I put about a foot on him by the end. And thats how I caught the street racing bug.

His mods/car: SRT Neon with stage 1, WGA, full turbo back exhaust, TNT wet kit (85 shot), some kind of full 3" air intake, motor mounts, larger front mount and pushing 18lbs

Last time we raced he had the above mods aside from the front mount and nitrous. I pulled 4 or 5 cars by the top of 3rd.
First race, we went from a 50 roll. (That's first gear for me, barely ) Anyways, I honk, we go. I instantly pull half a car, quickly shift to 2nd and slowly inch out to a full car. Slam 3rd and start to inch away again. Finally finished at the top of fourth with about 2 cars on him. On the second run we started at 65(2nd gear for me as well as himself). This time, no jump but close to the same out come; 2 cars by top of 4th. For the record, he did brake boost

After a dyno day me and the WS6 decided to run the cars. I had him beat on the dyno by 13rwhp and he had a passenger (only 110lbs) He was expecting me to walk him. First race was from about 45mph, with both of us in 1st gear. I honked 3 times and we were off! I put about half a car on him by the time we shifted to 2nd. He would spin into 2nd and I would end up puttin about another full car inbetween us by the top of 2nd with me still pulling away. We did that race a few more times with the same results. Then we decided to hit the freeway and do a 2nd gear roll from about 55mph (his choice, worst spot for my car). This race was alot closer! At the hit I started to slowly creep away from him. Shifted into third and continued creeping, with me putting him at my back bumper (literally nose to bumper) by the top of 3rd where he let off because of upcoming traffic in his lane. His car ran strong from his roll for sure!

"Well, I was coming home from Sugar Daddies, heading down the freeway (straight as **** I tell you) and I was cookin(90-95mph) passed up a bike and slowed down. Now I thought to myself, here it is, 2 or so in the morning with no one around. I mean the freeway was desolate...Anyway, we seem to both slow down at the same time and we line up perfectly as I dropped her into 3rd(80-85mph) and again, we both hit it at the same time! Well, I started steadily inching on by, and this guy looks at me like "WTF?". He then decides its time to tuck and gear down further. He starts to finally pull back up and even with me around 110ish. I thought to myself "HAH! Suprised this phuqer!". By about 150ish mph(top of 4th) this guy finally pulled 2-3 bike lengths on me, but it didn't stop there...I went for 5th....As far as speed goes, I couldn't tell you because the speedo was burried, but I stopped his pull and was inching back up to him. By the time my car topped out in 5th @ 7k rpms(calculator says 207mph with my tire/gear/rev limiter setup but we all know that's bullshit. Probably around 180ish) he was 1 1/2 bikes ahead of me. I slowed down and we exchanged thumbs up. I then got a good look at his bike and it looked like his bike was a gsx-r 750 (blue and white and a decal of a 750 on the back by the exhaust). So who knows, but HOLY sh*t! What a rush..Cool guy too, because I've never raced someone to that point. I'm sure that's a walk in the park for some bike guys, but damn if I was doing around 180ish Like I think I was, thats one helluva ride!"

About me, the closest one was the one with my buddy's Fox with a 347/AFR/big cam. We did 2 roll from around 40mph and the guy stayed right besides me until I hit end of 3rd and got a car on him somewhere in 4th!!
I was scared since I've never had a lost! This guy was inching on me in 2nd and my 2nd is freaking strong!!
I had one heavy passenger/t-tops open and the guy wasnt tune(rev limiter wasnt high enough)..dont know what have been the outcome with me alone and him tuned. I was shaken on that run!
Other tough run was against my other friends fox with a 331ci/h/c; I got 1.5 cars on him from 40-120mph; very tough opponent!!
I was untuned at that time with no nitrous..

As for a real challenge it would have to be the Mercedes CL55 I raced up in PA. We were out on the highway late at night, nothing out there and I came up beside him as he was coming out of a service plaza. We both lit off. He was faster on the straight aways, but I was more confident in the corners. He'd start to pull away on the straight away, very slowly, but when we hit a corner I'd walk back past him. This wasn't by much, neither of us really put any distance between each other, we just moved up and down each others car, neither of us really pulled away and put space on the other guy. I'm not sure how long we kept it up, a few miles at least. We finally both flew into a S turn at about 110 which scared the **** out of both of us. Coming out of the turn we both looked at each other, kind of smiled, exchanged thumbs up and cut it down to 80 and cruised together until my exit.
It was actually fun, we started doing cooperative driving to get around trucks, like he'd shoot up on the right to jump around a slow moving truck in the left lane, then slow down and hold the door open so I could come up on the right. Good stuff.
