I have a 2000 SS m6 vert with a flowmaster (not catback) which sounds ok but flows like crap, ported stock tb, descreened mass air, egr mod, cooland bypass mod, k&n fipk, slp 160 stat, msd wires which I dont think matters, and a superchips power tune. I'm going up against an 03 Mach m5, and it only has a bbk o/r x pipe, k&n drop in with the air silencer removed, and welded flows. The reason I ask is because I think my vert is considerably heavier and fully loaded compared to the mach. I think if I can keep it close up til third I can win but who knows. Has anybody on here have similar mods and races like this one with a vert? Oh yeah, he's a huge **** talker too. He thinks I might just hang and he brags that he always gasses ls1's!

 

I don't understand how someone can be a huge **** talker with an X-pipe and an air filter. There must be a lot of stock LS1s in your area, because stock for stock the cars are about even.

And what do you mean you have a flowmaster but not a catback? You have just mufflers?

Did you read the sticky where it mentions no "What if?" threads?

What are you racing from/to? Regardless, Mach will win.

The bench always wins in these situations. Race and post up results. Before you do that I'd recommend reading the sticky's. A lot of useful info in them.

 

if you are really worried and have a little spare time pull your rear seats and spare tire. That should only take like 20 mins and free up some good weight.
Also the mach1s have a better 1st and 2nd gear ratio as to where we have a better 3rd and 4th gear ratio so try to go from a 2nd gear roll from 50-55 mph but make sure you stay in it till higher speeds.

 

I say the Mach has a slight advantage and you'll get pulled a little bit, but nothing bad, assuming you can both drive. Post up results.

Haha, I didnt bother reading the sticky I'm new to this but I will post results. I did race this guy with my full bolt on notch with 3.73 gears and I would get him by half a car until I had to shift to 5th. My SS feels stronger from a roll than my mustang. We're going to go from a 40 roll until about 110.
