Default Funny story

Reading the thread "Import OWNS HIMSELF" reminded me of a slow race on that past saturday in my beater. This kid had an old Honda CRX, the little box honda that looks like someone just chopped a civic, anyways I was in my saturn and he started reving his motor at me at a stop light...it made me just burst out laughing but I said what the heck. I dumped my clutch somewhere around 3500, it slipped for a bit but outlaunched him and my little stock SC2..and I mean as stock as it was from the factory, absolutely SMOKED him..I slowed down then he did the ricer flyby, a guy pulls out in front of him and he locks up his tires, slid sideways and barely missed the truck. It was even more funny than me beating him. Ricer flyby gone bad!

That reminds of the time I was vacationing in Hawii and rented a Dodge neon... I too pulled up at a red and a little Honda Civic (Old Schoo) pulled up to me and my bud... I was joking and rev'd the little 4 banger, he did the same... The race was on, and I barely won with that new fwd Neon... Laughing the whole time.....

Slow races? How about me driving a '96 Taurus GL (~150hp) vs. my friend in his mom's 4cyl '95 Dodge Caravan. Had our girlfriends in the car, and did a little race from a stop to ~70mph. 20 seconds later, he actually won the race

I remember one time cruising with a friend back in hs in my mom's special edition nissan sentra (gxe slow as hell). Anyway, a guy we know pulls up beside us in a riced out hatch civic. I think it was a customer car or maybe just one of his beaters cause he usually runs mustangs. We talked for a bit at the light and thought it would be fun to run since it was way early in the morning and no one around. We ran light to light 4 or 5 times and I beat him everytime speedshifting that weaksauce hydraulic clutch. He couldn't believe it was stock. I couldn't believe he lost as he thought the civic was quick usually drives pretty good.

My friends had the chance to watch the greatest slow race ever....2 geo metro 3 cylinders going at it. They were able to race in the park it was so slow..my buddy said it was so pathetic, he could out run those cars for the first 15 parking spaces. I wish I could have been there to film it.

I got in a race in a Metro once against a Toyota Tercel. We both came out of our respective toll booth's at the same time, looked at each other, and the race was on to where the lanes merged together. Needless to say, the ol' 3cyl Metro came out on top! Slowest race ever. It felt like a car chase in a movie where a single drag race lasts over a minute with about 50 gear changes.

Yeah slow races are fun and funny as hell most of the time, in a fast car you only get to enjoy **** for a few seconds. I used to daily drive a 93 Buick LeSabre with 300,000miles on the clock and I cant count how many civics and diesel trucks I race on the way to and from work. Its cool because in that car even if I did pass a cop while racing, he couldnt tell. That car overheated and blew up after ALOT of serious abuse, I just pulled off in the ditch on the side I-20 where it died and cleaned it out then walked away The city towed it off and crushed it for me

in highschool i had an 89 olds EightyEight with the good ole 3800 my friend had a 91 Bonneville also with the same 3800

the cars were so evenly matched it was unbelievable we would be side by side from 30mph all the way to 110 mph, growing up in the country we always found a lot of time to stretch the legs on the old 4 door grocery getters good times

Good memories, Why did I have to go and build a fast car? I remember when I was happy in my 13sec truck until I rode in a fast car and then it was all over.....

I once saw two toyota echos going at it at the dragstrip..what's surprising is they were both running low 10's in the 1/8th at a fairly high altitude..wonder what they had done?

Lol the best races are beater races no doubt. I've raced more cars in my 93 Jeep GC 4.0 than in all of my Camaro's combined. That 190k mile 6 cylinder moves out pretty dang good for being in a 4dr SUV, LOL!

I raced a buddy with a 96 350 GMC all of the time and usually won from a slow roll.. haha. Or my friends 89 bonneville.. he started pulling on me by about 50.

The best race was my 00 Sonoma 2.2l ex cab auto pickup. I "raced" a buddy with a 2.2l standard cab, 5spd S10. By about 35 he had a "pickup" on me , so we got bored and slowed down. We raced right by a cop, and he never even knew.... we were just keeping up with traffic! That's the only time I ever floored the pickup.. there really is no reason to try to go fast in it!
