which shocks for best ride

Monroe's suck, especially for this car. I generally recommend Bilstein's in this case as they are best combination of ride, price and quality. You can spend a bit less and have a similar but not quite as composed ride with Tokico's (but you also get a shock that's less durable).
And Bilstein's are't all the same.... I do a set that uses a different rear shocks valving (though it's a production part, not anything I reworked) because the standard rear shock is too much like the OEM shock. It's got too much compression damping and not enough rebound control. That's what everyone else who sells Bilstein's sells. I use the same front (which work fine), but with a rear that is more composed, and more like the older Bilstein's before the "new and improved" (quotes for sarcasm) rears showed up.
