Default pads not making full contact

Installed new rotors and pads.
On the back rotors I can see the pads are making full contact, but on the front rotors the top edge has wear marks leaving about 3/4" on the bottom that has no wear yet.
Car seems to stop fine, no noise, driven about 30 miles since I have changed them.

It's called caliper spread. Very common with LS1 brake calipers that have had numerous heat cycles.

The problem is if you go to O-Reilly's and get their "caliper kit" it very well could have spread calipers as well.

I got a pic of that somewhere. My factory rotors were turned five times under warranty.
I got new rotors and seen the contact before they even were bed in.

Thats why the originals warped so often, because it adds a ton of heat to the outer edge.
I sold those rotors and pads with about 10 miles on them and spent $750 on UMI's C5 upgrade kit.

If you get new calipers, I would go with C5 units. They are less prone to preading. They are the same dimensions but are heavier in the area above the rotor. In addition they are pressure cast aluminum rather than gravity cast like the F-Body ones. This gives a more dense casting and stronger. If you run a search on C5 brake conversions you can find all this info plus the part numbers. Also ,check the for sale forum, as I see C5 calipers listed there often.

I would say yes. I wouldn't even trust remaufactured.
The C5 caliper idea is good, thats the main reason I got the whole kit.
My car was not run hard enough to justify warping 6 times. Thats why I went with the C5 stuff.
