Default Best Struts?

Hey guys i want to replace the struts on my 96 TA and i am wondering what you recommend. The only two brands i know of are Gabriel and Monroe. Are there any others or are the rest like Bilstein, Koni, etc just shock manufacturers?

Struts are a suspension travel dampener that also serve as a spindle mounting point. Your TA has spindles connected to upper and lower control arms with coil over shocks in front, not struts.

Koni is widely accepted as the best due to it's complete adjust ability, durable and serviceable design, and long history of excellent performance. They also make struts for some vehicles that have that type of suspension. Gabriel and Monroe are cost effective grocery getter dampeners.

Koni's rule. put a set on my car and it handles like it's on rails... adjusting them can be a bitch www.stranoparts.com and sam will give you the magic to dial them in right with great service and support. I don't think you can go wrong there.

Heres a pic of the 4th gen front suspension, you can clearly see the upper control arm (stut suspension does not use an upper control arm).

Here is a stut type front suspension, you can see there is no upper control arm:

You can buy your konis from here: www.stranoparts.com, Sam will give you install and setup information as well.

wow stupid computers. im still undecided on what parts to go with. im definitely getting an eibach pro kit (can get one through work for around 100 bucks ) the shocks will have to be what i feel like i can afford. i thhink konis are a little extreme for me right now so i think im gonna go with bilstein

Not to sound harsh, but first this question is the most beat of question on here that I have seen. (well maybe besides what clutch), but if you will search you can spend your whole weekend reading about this.

1. Konis there are not extreme. Therenot 6k penske coilovers. There just good parts. Most often times in life you get what you pay for.

2. Bilstein does NOT condone you using their struts/shocks with this lowering kit. AKA don't do it.

Maybe skip the springs and get konis or just the bilsteins. Just shocks you will tell a big difference in what you got.

Have a great day

What exactly are you looking for when changing these parts out? Is it just ride quality, or handling?

Get some new stock springs and SLP blistein that should return a good cheap combo thats little better than stock.

I just don't want you to spend 400 and be like this is not what I want. I want just a little more handling etc..then u have to payfor labor or do all that work again. Be sure your goals, expectations, captial investment meets to provide what you want and need

im not really looking for much. my car is a DD so i just want a nice suspension on there. im going to try to get my shocks and springs through sears. being that i work there i get a huge discount. right now i can get close to 70% off the shocks and springs. and i get them installed for free and if bilstein doesnt recommend using their shocks with eibach springs, why does ws6store sell them together?

they sell them together cause it sells. but it might not be recomended but thats just cause the shocks were matched to stock springs and not the rate of lowering springs. will it ride better then factory shocks oh yea it will. just the shock life will be shorter.

First Eiebachs are prob the WORST f-bod springs you can get and Bilsteins are good shocks but not for lowerering.

Just go search suspension and save some bandwidth.......

Sorry to be harsh but sometimes the truth hurts.........

What makes your think your stock springs are "really beat up"?
