Just ruined my third Torque arm for the year.
While driving to the Y, a z28 drove up next to me revving and lunging, so I couldn't resist but to downshift. When I downshifted I didn't even get a chance to hit the gas, and just heard a BANG, and a horendous metal on metal sound. I limped home, and knew what it was since this is the third one. I looked under the car, and the bolts for the torque arm to rear end ripped through the holes on the torque arm. So before they were ripping out of the rear. Now they ripped through the torque arm.
I feel like I have just been putting a bandaid over the same problem. So I searched around, and found that byunspeed has a Sphoon, tunnel mount, adjustable, torque arm with a drive shaft loop for sale for only $350. So I will be ordering that today or tomorrow, and hopefully never have to mess with it again.

yeah, with a 12 bolt, I went through 2 stock tq arms before I got my spohn. I tell ya though, I really dont like my spohn tq arm. Makes way to much noise, and moves around way too much. I would look into something like a BMR, or even UMI. Just my $.02

Sorry to hear you've had problems with that again, that sucks. I remember reading one of your other threads about this.
Did you happen to see this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/suspensio...destroyed.html
there is a lot of talk about the moser 12 bolt and torque arms in general in that thread, not just the UMI and some good thoughts and ideas in there.
I don't think you're going to fix the issue just by going to one torque arm over another, damn near every kind of torque arm out there has been destroyed or damaged in some way with Moser 12 bolt rears.

If you have any questions regarding our set-up I will be glad to help!
On our tunnel mounted torque arms we use a polyurethane bushing mount on the torque arm and the torque arm mount itself. This makes for a much quieter operation over the others.
Byunspeed also carries UMI products
Thank you!

So based on observation since your going to be on your 4th torque arm thus far and seeing how they are about 400ish bucks a piece (using a full length adjustable one for reference) your up to approxmiatly 1600 bucks just in torque arms, which is more than halfway there for a new/used different rear end that wont break things . Not telling you what you should or should not do just pointing that out, and im sure you already know it..

it has to do with the way to tq arm bolts on if i remember correctly. moser uses 4 bolts, two for each side of the mount. strange uses two bolts that go all the way thru the mounting tab on the rear. the difference is double shear vs. single shear...the strange way is just plain stronger.

That sucks man, I would've bought a TA before a 12 bolt but that's just me.
As to what to get, I have all UMI pieces on my car. They have a great product as well as outstanding customer service, when I finish off my suspension with a K-member and a-arms they will be getting my business no doubt.
