The difference lies in the rear shocks.
"3's" have to come off the car to be adjusted, and have 4 settings to pick from ranging from full soft, 20, 50 and 100% stiffer.
"4's" stay on the car, adjust in a few seconds (literally) and have no presets. Any position you pick between full soft and full hard is a setting (think of a dimmer switch on your dining room lights). You can get exactly what you want, not settle for one of four presets the 3's give.
So why run 4/3 over 4/4? Cost, they are $103 or so cheaper.

The ease of adjusting them on the car is worth the extra money. The shock comes with a little **** so you can adjust them.
Just be smarter than I was and know there is a little cut out on the carpet above the shock.
Don't ask me how much of my interior I took out to swap out shocks......I'm not proud of it....
I about flipped when Sam told me there was an access hole in the carpet.

Well jeez, I thought I would be fine with the 4/3s and was really hesitant to spend the $ - now you guys are swaying me to the 4/4s. But how often do you really change the settings?

What?!?! What do you mean there is an access hole in the carpet?! Where is it? I've done this twice on two different cars. I need a picture of this. Man, now I'm pissed!!! (and obviously a moron, twice)

Look RIGHT behind where the rear seat post is that holds the seat up. There is a very very small perferated area there. Just kind of tear it the rest of the way and there is the top of shock.
Went out and snapped some quick pics.
Top of the Koni 4 shock.

Yet another reason it's good to buy from Strano Performance. I tell folks about it if they call, which they are free to do about setup/install when they get their Koni's here.
Don't feel bad for not knowing, a lot of folks who should, don't.

The idea of the adjustment is not to be changing them all the time, but to find what works best. If you had to send your computer off to retune it vs. flashing it yourself over say 3 shots, which is easier?
4/3's are about cost, they save over $100 vs. 4/4's. For that you give up ease and some fine tuning ability to dial the car in exactly the way you want. Say you only mess with it twice. Is taking the shocks off to make a change, trying, and then doing it again worth $100 to you? And any change down the road might well cause you to play again. Different set of tires that feels different? Spring change? More weight in the car?

Well, I'll be ... I've done rear shocks on three of these cars and never knew a thing about the access panel. Just went and checked my car. There's a pre-cut slit to get you started, but one would have to cut to make the flap. On one side, it looks outlined with the slit on the lower line; on the other there's just one line that's cut open about 2"
