Drivers side Brake caliper/piston frozen
Not quite sure what the root cause here.
Went on a two week trip and had to park the car in the open. Came back Sat and drove home only to stop half way due to smoke coming from the wheel well. The brake componets are pretty much toast. I didn't have any tools with me so I did the best I could do what what I had. I was able to drive the hour home from the airport after giving it some attitude adjustment.
Broke it down Sun and put it together and thought it okay after driving it 50 or so miles, however this morning the same thing happened although I caught it this time prior to cooking everything again.
Besides having to replace the obvious what do you guys think is causing this. Piston getting stuck, bad brake line? The other parts are working just fine. Caliper pins are floating free.
I have done nothing to these brakes for quite a long time. My guess is I need to break down the caliper and check the guts to make sure the piston is not corroded up? I cranked it in with a c-clamp and to my best guess it seems fine.
I'm confused on this one.
