Default brake pad change... simple question

ive searched it and i know theres a ton of posts but i just wanted a few straight answers... i'm gonna change my pads myself this weekend (never done it before) and all i need to know is it ok to just decompress the piston without opening the master cylinder resevoir cap or doing anything to the bleeder valve?? cause i really dont even know how to do either one of those.... my buddy changed mine once before and he just decompressed the pistons with a screwdriver shaft... is that ok to do?

also anybody use bendix ceramic pads? prob gonna go with those

Actually if your pins are in good shape and you take the cap of the resovor it's possible to push the piston back in by pulling the caliper towards you while it's still on the car.

I typically always remove the cap when I compress the pistons. Just make sure you don't have too much fluid in it because it's possible to overflow it. And that's really messy.

Always remove your cap and make sure your not to full. If brake fluid shoots out its a really messy cleanup and it damages paint in minutes. If you think its a little to full, suck some out first.

I always put a towel or two under the master cylinder, just in case. Better to sacrifice a towel than the paint. Use a C-clamp to compress the caliper piston, and take your time, don't do it too fast. You should be fine.

If you are doing the back brakes and changing the rotors, you will need to do a parking brake adjustment, also.

The brake reservoir is located on the drivers side of the car right against the fire wall. Open the hood and look for the milky white container with the black cap on top. You can't miss it.

I typically don't take the cap all the way off (I don't want junk/dust falling in there), I just crack it. When using a C-clamp to push the piston(s) in (1 in the rear, 2 in the front), put the old pad between the piston and the C-clamp. Take your time doing this, you don't want to **** the pistons in their boar. Just give it a 1/4 turn and feel the piston slide back.
