Default calipers

im removing all 4 of my calipers to be sent out for powder coating, do you guys plug the banjo bolt hole that goes into the calipers to keep the fluid from running out of the master cylinder or do you let it go completely empty? if i does go completely empty will i need to bench bleed the master cylinder?

I wouldn't let it go completely empty, I fill it if I were you. you dont want air bubbles in your system. plug it up!!! after your calipers get back from powder coating bleed and refill your fluid

You can get some neoprene tappered plugs from some auto parts or paint shops that fit in the lines nicely and won't damage them.

to late, i let the master cylinder go dry so i guess when i get my calipers back ill just have to bleed it at the 4 corners really good to get the air out.

do you guys think this will work? i think i may let it gravity bleed before i bleed it by having an someone pump the pedal and hold technique.

I just went through this last month myself....I like the idiot I am let the master run dry.

Not the end of the world, but it did make bleeding the system a bit of a pain in the ***......I ended up using a Tech 2 tool to cycle the ABS pump valves to get ALL the air out of the system.

Had I capped the lines off, I could have avoided that step....

Either way, you'll be fine!!!

What color combo did you go with? I did my calipers in hugger orange and the brackets in black

I let the fluid level go real low on my master last year and it was a PITA to get all the air out. I actually had to remove the master and bench bleed that sucker.

This year I plugged the banjo fitting with a bolt and fresh crush washers. All I had to do was bleed all four corners and all was well.

Just last week I had to put an ABS module in the car and I had a shop bleed the whole system using the Tech II. Even with the Tech II they still ran about 2 gallons of brake fluid thru it to get all the air out of the system. My brakes have never felt so good

I personally would not powder coat my stock calipers...I would hold on to the extra money and save up for some willwoods or some C6 ZO6 calipers...just my opinion. lol
