Lightbulb Brake Pads

It's that time again, and I'm looking for recomendations for new brake pads. I had the hawk blacks, and they stop great, but at this time, I'm not racing or autocrossing, and if I do, I will change pads. Can someone recomend a set of pads that will not dirty up the chrome rims after a week?

The ceramic pads are supposed to be very good and light dust too.

Porterfield R4S are awsome. very quiet and no dust on the street, no fade and lots of dust at the track. You will eat up about half of them in a day of opentracking.

I think OEM pads are great for overall use with little to no dust. And they last a long time...

I'll let you know on the Porterfields soon, just ordered mine. RedHardSupra, how did the Poretrfields last on the street?

Be careful with the Hawks, I've become suspicious of their quality control, the results of their pads seem inconsistent.

I have the HPS, and they suck. They fade at high speed, lock up at low speed, dust like a SOB, and are starting to squeal, and it's not the wear indicators.

On the other hand, other people say they are working great for them.

Seems to be about 50/50 on people who they work good for, and ones that don't.

they lasted fine, i put the R4S on just before an opentrack event, ate a lot of them. but then driving on them on the street was normal, lasted few months, until another event. I liked them because unlike all other 'better' pads they were really quiet and not-dusty in regular (well, more like spirited) driving.

I was also looking for a pad that wouldn't annihilate my rotors, but would substantially stop me with high speed driving. I went with the Raybestos Brute Stop pads, part #BD749M or D749. They are not the regular service replacement pad but are for severe duty use. They are used in the Secret Service motor pool; by ambulances and police departments. They are not race pads and they say that on the box. They will be a special order, and will cost more than regular pads. I have had mine for over a year and love em'. They are worth every cent I paid. They work great in the Texas heat to boot (pun intended).

They also have a series of pad called Super Stop. That part number is: SSD749

I use the same, they don't squeak and do not dust up the rims. Plus you can get them locally.

Hrmmm, I hope the Hawks aren't crap... I'll try them out for awhile and see how it goes, if I'm not happy, I guess chalk it up to a lesson learned. Does anyone have anything to say about the EBC brakes?
