Default Installed UMI torque arm from WS6store.com

Took me and a buddy about 2 hrs to install and adjust a UMI torque arm with a new bushing, adjusted to -2 degrees, I also moved my LCA's up to the middle hole which gave me about -.5 of a degree in those putting my instant center longer and lower. Was raining the day of the install, but I just got done with a spin in the TA and Holy ****! It accelerates so hard and straight now and the response from your foot mashing the go pedal you can really feel. It just snaps my head right back instantaneously now. I guess I had alot of slop and twisting in the rear end that I didn't realize, but not anymore. I was not expecting that much of a difference. I don't get any banging or any binding either, crusing around is an undescribable subtle difference but when you get on it, holy ****! It was fast before, but I think I'm really putting it all to the ground now and creating better forward motion. Why didn't I do this sooner?

Mike at WS6store was awesome as usual as far as pricing and CS goes, since it was drop shipped from UMI also they made sure I got it quick. Thanks guys!

One of the first upgrades that should be done is getting rid of that trash torque arm. I got a BMR non-adjustable unit with the UMI torque arm relocation mount and ended up with around -2 degrees and it made a world of difference. You have any vids of your ride? I want a maggie so bad...

Hopefully what I did will fix this! Times are pretty low from a 6800+ DA

Would a torque arm be of any benefit on a bolt on car?

Especially if you're lowered. I've been lowered for several years on the stock torque arm. Ddin't know much of anything about suspension geometry until recently.

I really wish I would have checked my geometry before installing it, I've done some crazy stuff to the car, but really didn't care that much at the time. Honestly I wasn't expecting much gain from this mod. Oh well though, my stock torque arm is probably now being recycled into paper clips or something. That thing is so flimsy and cheap.

A couple degrees in your torque arm, pinion angle, and lower control arms can make a serious difference I now know.

when you set the angle like you said to -2 degrees where do you measure that at and is that with the load off of the rear end?

Add the differences between positive or negative angles underneath the torque arm mount, basically under the pumpkin, and the other on the driveshaft at the yoke. This is to be done with the suspension loaded, maybe even with someone in the drivers seat.

If your first measurement is -3, and the second is +1, add the two for -2. It's just adding integers, basic ****. Adjust as necessary until you get -2. You need an angle finder to do this.

BMR has a video explaining how to do it on their homepage. Lots of good info AND bad advice on how to do it around here.
